You need to work out your max heart rate, from that find your levels and then train in those levels.

Or just leave the HRM off and enjoy riding your bike.

+1 – they do need a fair bit of fettling.

Bland – The large spacer looks like it is there to convert from a headshok fork to a standard? Which doesnt fit with the top picture admittedly

Doh, sorry Andy – bit subtle for me

So – planning ahead now – if the lever starts to feel long – is it just a case of topping it up through the hole?

    cyclistm
    Free Member

    hhmm, did think that.

How would I know if it needed topping up?

You can buy an entire FSA orbit headset for the price of 2 of their replacement bearings.

    Exactly!!

Murray, if markwsf doesnt take it I’d love it in exchange for a donation to a charity of your choice.

markwsf – Feel I should recognise the location of that photo – is it behind Seaford somewhere?

Any recommendations for a bike with similar geometry to an 18″ soloist but with gears (I have a funny feeling its going to have to be a cotic soul)

    cyclistm

I didnt realise the Soloist was so different to the geared frames in geometry – thats a shame as was thinking of a geared sanderson to compliment the SS.

littlesthobo – very interested – any pics?

Hopefully answers your question albeit in a round about way:

I bought a 16″ soloist from this website. Great bike very flickable but a bit too small. Loved the bike so much I bought an 18″. This is with a 100mm eqv rigid fork.

I’m a fairly average 5’10” which suggests an 18″ would be a bit too small for you – sorry.

PS – I’ll have my 16″ up for sale soon if anyone is looking

I like the look of the Specialized but would prefer her to get used to proper brakes rather than a coaster brake. Does this seem sensible?

My Dad had this when he had Office installed twice. Removed one version and it’s been fine since. So maybe check there are no conflicting programmes it is trying to update.

ah – so worth budgetting for new brakes then. Did you mention the brakes?

    Are they Promax Mechanical Disc??

It looks stunning. I asked in Evans and they said they have only had 1 Cannondale 29er in and that was geared.

Presumably Cannondale not pushing 29ers in the UK much?

    Update:
107mm bb with chainring on the inside has put the chainline slightly out so have had a few chain offs.

I have put a 2.5mm external BB on the washer to space it out to see if it will straighten it up a bit.

    I’ll report back.

Cheers all – a strip, clean and regrease seems to have worked.

Might get a service pack to keep it running.

What condition are the bearings in?

I had similar when I couldn’t get enough preload on the bearings without them seizing, so I would back them off to run smooth which would give just enough give to loosen during a ride.

First things first, we have to send out a huge THANKS to everyone who signed up for the free 100ml sample of Muc-Off Bike Cleaner. We’ve been busy packing and labelling, and all the free samples of Muc-Off Bike Cleaner will be arriving with the lucky, successful applicants over the next few days. There was a massive response to the offer and while we’ve sent out all the samples we had in stock, there just wasn’t enough to go around.

But it’s not all bad news! We want to give you a unique voucher code (see below) worth £5 to use in the Muc-Off Official Online Store when you spend £15 or more! We know it’s nowhere near as cool as a free sample, but we want to try to make sure everyone gets a little something. We’ll be doing another sample offer soon, so watch this space!

Presume this means – unlucky son – you aint getting one, but it doesnt actually say that does it?
