Hhhmm, that’s not good, I’m not up on schwalbe tyres but that sounds like a significant downgrade. I might be tempted to check other dealers to see what tyres are on their bikes?

I was going to suggest following one of DrPs routes to London then head across somehow, no idea how though.

Eastbourne start also sounds like it might be possible.

I did have a look at a map to go across Kent way but it would be mighty complex, without really knowing how well bridle ways fit together etc it could be messy.

I reckon you could piece together a relatively quiet road route easy enough.

What bike? Ive seen bikes advertised as coming with tubeless ready wheels rather than tyres, can’t say I’ve looked that closely though.

10 hrs in the current conditions is incredible!!

Ah good, not just me then. I did wonder.

Maybe Brighton to Bournemouth pier would be better, lots of South Downs way and down through the New Forest??

Is this a thing or are you planning on making it a thing?

I don’t think there is much you can do without a multimeter. Advice above is good though, have a look to see if a drive belt is hanging off or missing.

Not at all, just trying to talk myself out of a potential bike purchase. You lot arent helping.

I always fancied a lefty but thought they might be hard to live with.

Damn it, I was hoping you’d say it needs constant attention. It’s a 2013 model.

If the end does come, can they be changed to a standard fork fairly easy?

Oh and hydraulic brakes are expensive because its new technology and because the hydraulics and particularly reservoir fits in a shifter, some thing that isn’t required on an MTB. Mtb brakes don’t come with a shifter. They’ll come down in price though…

I’m guessing they still don’t work? Cable pulling through the pinch bolt would be my guess.

In that case I reckon tyre pressure will have a huge effect. At 35psi I’m surprised the tyre wasn’t slipping.

What are you waiting power with? If a crank arm pm then none at all. But if your taking it from a turbo it will potentially make a big difference.

I’ve not done one for years but I used to calibrate the turbo before any tests.

I’d expect the kids entry to cover the cost of the levies, not sure what the current BC levy for kids though, so this may be well off.

Could you just disconnect the PS3 from the Internet and play the game without the updates? No good for online racing but might get you started?

No idea. But I think I’d start by putting everything in writing and sending it to them. That way your not relying on the notes of whoever you speak to on the phone

2 switches, one in the conservatory the other in the shed?

Yeah I do, and yes I agree, but I reckon Ron has a plan or will pay him less not to stay at home. Ideally I’d like to see theMcHonda near the front with JB and Alonso in them both.

My prediction, Alonso will take a sabbatical in 2016 – no point having a driver on £40m running around at the back of the grid, better to use the money for development.

Hey John_l oddly enough I also had an 853 one in orange and I’ve just finished building a scandium/carbon one (with the MT55 wheels I bought from you).

Oh and the scandium one was available in 56

Whilst its tempting to wait and see what happens, I think i’d be on to the dealership first thing tomorrow as if it was me I’d be bound to get stung with additional fees or interest for missed payments or something else. either way, it would cost me a bomb.

You might be luckier than me though 🙂

There was a similar thread a few weeks back. bikebuoy said he’s done it a couple of times, but it would be so weather dependent, you really need a long cold and dry spell with the wind in the right direction. The lack of light would be the limiting factor for me (as well as lack of fitness)

The good thing is there are plenty of bail out options.

    Edit, similarish http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/south-downs-double-anyone-done-it-in-winter

I find fit is crucial with knee warmers otherwise they ride up or down.

    I’d recommend Trying some on

Are they any better than they used to be? The original ones were awful IME

    cyclistm

Unless there was a long dry period or a very cold period I wouldn’t even consider the single.

I imagine having lights working long enough in the winter would be the major issue

When we had ours done we found that the cost for a conservatory with a proper roof was very high still with many of the compromises stated above.

We couldn’t afford this and went with a normal conservatory with upgraded glass. It was still too hot and too cold at certain times of the year but did give us a lovely bright extra room the majority of the year for a fairly reasonable sum.

If you can afford it get an extension
