£15 ish for the mech hanger for my bike which seems a lot for a tiny piece of aluminium but minuscule in price compared to what the bike cost and other running costs. However i got the lbs to throw in two spare hangers when i bought the bike. Ill be taking two spare hangers to the alps later this year as i dont want a ruined holiday for the sake of £20

My mate don’t like his duals and wish he’d gone solo like the rest of us. Not heard great things about them to be honest

Few things to try which seem a commonish problem on RS and plenty of threads if you searched… (Although mainly been pikes that ive heard thats had this problem)…

    1. Insert a zip tie past the stantion seals to release air pressure in the lowers. Not done this but some on here have done this and has sorted the problem
    2. Increase air pressure to max ( about 150psi ish) and extened fork travel to max. You may hear a short hiss which i believe to be air transferri g into the neg chamber
    3. Clean excessive grease from the air transfer groove on the inside of the stantions. When you put the forks back together make sure you dont create neg air pressure in the lowers. I tend to add a bit of air pressure before putting lowers back on ( as advised by tf tuned but is opposite to what is advised in the mbr video).

Would love to. At £50 a pop it’s not gonna happen any time soon!

As long as you dont break the seal although since going tubeless ive never needed to use the trail pump

If you cant inflate using track pump (this usually works for me) inflate using ghetto inflator and as you pull the hose off put a finger on the valve and then screw in the core as quick as you can. I only lose a few psi using this method then top up using track pump

A mate of mine bought me a n england rugby top as a piss take birthday presant (im welsh). I didnt have a strop about it and wore it with pride… It was the ideal attire for things like car or bike maintenance

Ive had the SG carcass on front and rear (various combos of hd’s, mm’s) for 2 years now for everything from xc, everyday trail riding to uplifts. There is a weight penalty but i keep up with my mates on the climbs and have had zero punctures, ripped side walls etc

I have nanos and straitline defacto. Nanos are ok, good for the money but i prefer the straitlines in terms of grip and feel. The build quality is excellent and very easy to service too, not that they’ve ever needed much doing to them.

Which design agency do you work for, BTW? Just curious about your graphics/design background.

Yeah I’m not sure I get your logic there.

I understand the need for adverts and I’ve no issue with them, never have. The banner I understand is there for a purpose but it’s pointless if only half the banner (hence half the text) is visible without zooming out (this is on a PC). On my ipad the banners are barely 3mm wide so utterly pointless (not that I’m complaining about that).

I don’t need to work in graphic design to realise the banners and some ads are not working as intended.

Incidentally the banners are gone today and now I have a grey background usually only available to subscribers. Now I am tempted to subscribe!

oooh touchy 😆 I didn’t say it offended me, and I’ve never moaned about the adverts. I’m happy to put up with them as its not a big deal. All I said is that the graphical design of this website is shockingly bad, which in my opinion it is. If you don’t share that opinion then fine but I’m entitled to mine.

IMO it looks overly cluttered and the side banners don’t display correctly (unless I zoom out). The website looks a bit cheap and tacky which is opposite to the overall image of magazine and ST. Having said that it’s not bad enough to make it unusable, but definitely has room for improvement.

    2.4 Maxxis stuff is big

I don’t know if all Maxxis 2.4 tyres are sized similarly but my mates 2.4 HR2 is tiny compared to my 2.35 Hans Dampfs. They looked closer to 2.2’s.

Got some Magic Marys on the way too and will stick them on for the weekend if they arrive in time

Just reopened this thread to point out that we’ve actually reduced the number of ads in the site in the last two weeks. The mag stripes I’m baffled by. That’s what we are. We ARE that magazine. This website is not separate from the printed magazine. We are all here, bashing at our keyboards on this forum because of that magazine. It’s as much an ad as the signs inside Tesco pointing you at where they keep the milk.

that may be but the website design is shockingly bad imo

I see poppy ping has raised its head again.
No Welsh speaker has ever used popty ping.
We use an old Saxon word -“Microwave”

I’d like to know how you came to this conclusion!? There’s a girl in work that regularly uses the phrase to describe a microwave, and I think I may have even used it myself

tubeless. Cheaper, less hassle, one puncture in over 2 years (caused by double puncture), easy to fit (IME), no way I’d go back to tubes

How long have you been riding for? I wouldn’t recommend BOS stuff to anyone who’s been riding for less than 4 years; but ideally you want to have 6 or more years saddle time before you’re ready for a full BOS setup.

    Erm, why?

    Or are you being funny?

Im riding bigger jumps and drops on my five than my mate does on his alpine. More down to the rider imo unless youve reached the limit of the five

Would recommend but suspect you’re looking for posher.

Even for a cheap bunkhouse this place is a shithole

Not sure if theyre anything like straitline pedals but i just tap them out using a flat head screwdriver and rubber mallet. You have to apply a bit of sideways pressure to the screwdriver to make sure it stays on the edge of the bushing.

Ignore all that if the bushings are completely different tho

Edit. Example of straitline bushings Here

Surprised it wont seal on its own as ive had bigger holes sealing with just the latex. You could try the sticky worms which also work well or even a drop of superglue

I use a different brand of suspension grase but yeah it gets used wherer needed. Cant see the point of not doing it for the sake of saving 30 seconds

Used to in a cheap pair of Vans. Far grippier than the various five tens or shimanos that ive had over the years but the sole gets ripped easily as its a lot softer, they aren’t as stiff as mtb specific shoes and soak up water like a sponge (although the five tens weren’t any better at that)

Hope faffage? Thats a new one on me. Only thing i ever do is change pads

    creamegg

Have both, shimano are decent enough and great value for money but the hopes outperform them by a long way ime, but cost roughly twice as much.

Having said that it may not be a fair comparison as the shimanos are xt whilst the hopes are Tech 3 V4’s (both on 200/203mm rotors)

Trails have been awesome round here for weeks (south wales). Doesn’t feel like winters started yet really

    creamegg

Go 150mm then if you fancy 160mm its an easy and cheap change up to 160mm which is easily reversible

    creamegg

No reason not to get the reverb due to the hydraulics. All mine have performed faultlessly with zero maintenance other than a squirt of fork juice. Only criticism is the remote can be fragile in a crash and they’re bloody expensive to fix.

    creamegg

Yes and then after 2 weeks i went 160mm. Slight compromise on the climbs but awesome on the descents. This is with both shock bushings being offset

You can get tyres on without leavers once you have the technique

Some yes, but no chance on my current rim and tyre combo
