    What a strange win today?

    At least Roche moved up!

    That’s grade A+++ SPAM right there ^.

I’ve no idea what the game is : but I am curious.

Ok: shackster- that’s a fair point (I post over there sometimes too). If that’s really you over here then I expect a lot more posts here!

Anyway, I got drawn into a bullshit discussion about a year ago.
Then there were a series of about 5 bullshtters that I ignored all in about 3 weeks.

All whinging about the same thing.

So anyway. This post / replies has my back up. There is something else going on. IMO.

Now shackster: that might well be genuine. But you’ve registed yesterday.

And I suspect that we’re all getting our chain w(y)anked today.

#’Edit – given the number of folk and ID’s doing this – its got to be some sort of commercial negative SPAM thing.

Good spot sync: But that’s an amazing coincidence: both pinkone(~fish?) and apinkone registered as new members on exactly the same day a few weeks back.

Well blow me down. I thought (s)he was too quiet recently.

    Good spot super furry dude!

The pink one returns with a new name maybe?

Normal folk should engage a pinch of salt or a sense of humour.

    I’ve two points:

A: we had a thread a year back that got resurrected every few months by a different new poster whinging about being ignored and no-one answering the phone. They never posted about anything previous or since. Fortunately he’s been quiet for a while.

B: I would happily buy another (if I couldnt get a similar bike locally for the ballpark cost). I’d make sure I ordered a spare mech hanger along with the initial purchase though: the £12 ish postage cost afterwards stings a bit.

Why doesnt he buy a ticket and sit in a seat like normal people? Is travelling in a box like a “kinky” thing?

    Then google Torchy battery boy.

Car main beam vs bike (£100 ish).

    http://www.torchythebatteryboy.com/p/fluxient-3x-u2.html

I dont own one btw- I’ve got a last years mj872 but if I needed a light this year then I’d give this guy (uk) a twirl – he’s got as top notch reputation.

    Wide != XML. IME.

So £150 is out of range: what is your budget?

Are your current lights ok otherwise?

Are you ok buying off a non-mainstream seller: but someone with an ok reputation? Do you want a UK seller?

    bang flush with the stem

    You know what to do.

As for the cheeky / “nothing nice to say” comments (none of them mine btw) helpful stuff often comes from when folk make the effort to be humourous to state the obvious.

Well I learned something new today.

My hope QR adapters are hex shaped internally. Near as I can measure the hole varies from 5.2 – 5.4mm.

I’m assuming you’re referring to this:

If you choose AE over Mabie then Glentress will seem even better when you get there!

    (Don’t)

I’d bet at least a beer that he meant it tongue in cheek.

Ae is a good trail, maybe a bit of slog if you’ve not been warned in advance. If I had the choice, then Mabie is a better option for a first time visit.

    Basically – go to Mabie.

And lastly, as said above the GT black diversions amount to exactly what a lot of (most?) folk do to reduce the climb on the the black. You do miss some good bits- but not the best.

And lastly, if you find the black “dull” – you’re going too slow!

Eh? The seller misrepresented an item. Why should the buyer be out of pocket?

I’ve had a list of sellers recenty selling misrepresented crap and in every case there has been a short debate about me loosing £10 – £15 return postage.

In each case ebay insisted I get the return postage refunded. Dont accept anything less.

No. Make it clear it’s their mistake.

Be reasonable with the return costs. Dont leave feed back until you get a full refund (“full” includes your return costs).

Every micro detail required on 12v inflators here:
    http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/36039/mini-compressor-test

But even owning one of their 4 star ones: they all die from corrosion / non-use before you actually need to use them in anger.

Edit: ours was a RAC600 Automatic and worked fine the day it arrived. When we needed to use it next spring after a puncture it was dead as a doornail.

3 things need to fail for this to happen. Or 1 thing.

1: the metal 5mm hex bolts arent done up enough. Or too much. Or are stripped. Or: “what bolts”?
2: the plastic securing pin has failed.
3: the plastic pretensioner is missing. Or is stripped.

4: You bought them used. and 1-3 werent followed.

Just remember that if you come to sell the forks at some point (assuming a bouncy version) they will be worth considerably less than one with say a 190 steerer. Dont pay top dollar – or keep em for life.

“New old stock” 2012’s have gone for 1250. With warranty.

Your 4 year old: say £850 if you want
to sell it. Ask for a bit more if it’s mint.

    In reality split it.

If it started all of a sudden like- the bracken thing may have bent or twisted your mech hanger. Or mech. Or theres bracken under a limit screw. Or ….

Looks like that one was sold in Cambridge on August 21st. Or he’s nicked the photo. Or the ebay guy nicked this guys photo.

Thing is it was listed at £420 on Gumtree last week in Edinburgh so maybe he’s just dropped the price.

    Good point from globalti.

    But I’ve just noticed this:

    (with crudds 2)

You’ll not get cruds2 AND 25 on the front. You might get them in there with a 23 but it will be really close: possibly even risky.

25c on mine (a red 3) and at the front that’s about all that will fit (the brake is the limiting factor).

You may possibly get away with bigger on the back (the rear brake is higher up).

Btw lots of good info over on the Triban Owners Forum.

    No.

7.4v is far far more likely.

#Edit but it depends on the individual unit.

My missus actually thought it was ok. And she hates war films.

Blimey. I clicked on that link and the weight made my monitor tilt left!

Otherwise: on all my cassettes the lowest gears are on the spider so presumable you’d have to shift the whole lot outwards and loose the 11T?

What derailleur do you have? Thats a proper jump in capacity but with a 1x you’d need to double check.

Sorry for the confusion. What I was trying to say is that the 872 is good but as things move on so much each year there should be something better now for the same money. XMLs are too narrow a beam for me so I wouldnt buy one of those.

    couldashouldawoulda
    Free Member

As zippy says: that’s a more “reliable” version of an 872. Its a wide floody light. Kind of a like a brighter P7. Great for the bars. Much wider beam than an XML (which I’d put on a helmet).

Some beamshots and stuff of mine here:
    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/another-dx-light-option-a-mini-review-and-beamshots

Mine has lasted totally fine. I’ve never had an overheat problem: but I’m in temperate Scotland. I’ve no intention of replacing it this year.

However that tech is a year old now. There should be some non-XML stuff better for the same cash.

Oliver: dont believe the red being “unavailable” thing on their website. I was in the Edinburgh branch last week and was surprised to see 10+ red ones with carbon forks (sizes small, med and large..). I checked when I got home and the website said unavailable.

So it appears they get stock, put it in a store and dont bother adding it online. It would certainly be worth a phone call you your local branches.

I dont know if the carbon forks are better: but there are other differences (no Sora, different shifters, …).
