In the nicest possible way – you’re selling expensive stuff with no warranty, that is quiet possibly knackered (I know what you’re saying, but from a buyers perspective…..).
Expect 50% of what you paid. Ask for a tad more. In the middle will be the outcome.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberAs someone who’s exceed the max 5 pc sync limit on an iphone I can confirm that it does indeed still show up in windows explorer and you can drag and drop from there.
No itunes etc (well I didnt look into a workaround too much tbh).
Obviously no help if you’ve no windows.

#Edit – seems reasonably priced ime.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberMark – no aspersions in your direction at all. It was just meant as an example.
What I mean really is that she had the same password for velux blinds, boden, M&S, uggs, ….. other stuff even I’ve heard of… but someone somewhere online got her password and tried it against her registerted email where it worked.
And for the record, it wasnt STW – she doesnt post on here.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberIME – Anything visible thru aol webmail is now theirs. Most probably just email addresses, credit card numbers,… I doubt they’re interested in photos. Kids stuff may be more worrying. You can search aol for anything relating to your address. Which would be my biggtest worry.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberMy missuses’ aol account was done about 3 months ago. We found out ’cause a mate rage me at 6am on a Sunday to see why we were in Barcelona and if I’d hit the mugger back and if we really needed money western union-ed to us.
Anyway, turns out, after a lot of paranoia, my good lady uses the same password for all the sites she visites. Shopping, shoes, sainsburys, email, mumsnet, ….. All the same.
Anyway, that’s the first part of the fix. Different passwords for the key stuff.
#Edit- just thinking about it – suppose you register here as jooeymtb with an email of Joe@aol.com and use a stw password of marmalade, then its as clear as day that any dubious fecker at stw will have a stab at paypal, gmail, aol etc with those details.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberBinty – welcome to the forum. Expect a lot of sarcasm here – but overall genuinely nice folk to meet up with.
Anyway you’re arriving in the first week of Tweedlove – sort of a festival of biking based in the borders. You may find something in particular to pique your interest here:
There’s lots going on.
Overall though – sure you can go further afield and get bigger hills etc, but for 45 mins from the Edi airport, I guess it’s a balancing act.
Anyway, bike hire wise – Alpine at the trailhead in GT, and another branch 3 mins cycle from Innerleithen trailhead. They have a good range of stuff, Trek’s at all budgets and some quirky British stuff (eg Orange – I’ll get flamed for that).
Personally if I had 2 days starting from Edi – I’d stick to the borders.
You dont really need a guide. If you really want one then I’ve used these guys for tuition (but they also guide):
Andy from:

http://www.dirtschool.co.uk/courses/info/private/(another Andy!)
Otherwise, I’m sure someone local is game for showing you round.
couldashouldawouldaFree Memberanyone else tail ended a car?
Yes.
any advice?
Shorter posts help.
Sorry I’m in a sarcy mood.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberI cant give you an expert answer, but this caught my eye:
“Athlon 64 x2” – only because I bought one about 8 years ago!I dont know what your budget is, but I’d shy away from buying that level nowadays.
Also I dont know how old this young chap is, but buying that now will end up with you chasing your tail.
It’s old tech, and even if most of the motherboards at the time will take modernish GFX cards, your still on the trailing end of the used market.
Fair enough if you owned one already, but no way would I buy one. If you insist : a guide price: £60 – £120 excl monitor, keyboard etc.
The next game he gets will cost you a lot more.
Give us an idea of budget and we may be able to help.
Lastly – and not meant as a downer, but there are some very unhappy Sim’s users around at the moment (server probs mainly).
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberI’ll check tomorrow but I’m sure it doesnt look like that one you linked to. I’ll check the model number that’s on mine.
#Edit – cross post there. Scapegoats pic is like mine.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberYes.
Yes – normal external / HTII type.
I dont know what the derailleur mount is called – but the mech its bolted onto a plate on the frame. There’s some photos on this thread (page 5) that might give you an idea of what its meant to look like. Otherwise can you take photos of yours / the problem?
#Edit: the link:
http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10002&t=12785308&start=80Actually those photos arent great.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberWe recently had to do this. It’s hard to look past the Dell Outlet.
For extra VFM look for a “scratch and dent” laptop – sounds bad but somebody will have scraped the lid or underside during assembly. It’s never on the screen. Apparently.
http://outlet.euro.dell.com/Online/InventorySearch.aspx?brandId=7&c=uk&cs=ukdfh1&l=en&s=dfh
Anyway, something with an i3, 4GB, windows 7 or 8, will see you good for a good few years.
Also, as an aside, nearly all laptops are now “widescreen” so the screens seem wider, but not as much vertical info when browsing the web etc. Anyway, a 14″ widescreen seems wider than an older 16″ one. Something to bear in mind.
I wouldnt buy an new laptop bigger than 15.6, but prefably 14″. Maybe that’s just me.
#Edit – Dang forgot to say prices are plus VAT and delivery. But when you get to checkout delivery is free. Takes about 4 days.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberYou’ll have to get one eventually!
In the mean time get down to tesco, buy a cheap pack of bbq skewers, it’ll take 2 or 3 bent ones to get one side off. Then you can see the other side and use whatevers at hand for the other side.
couldashouldawouldaFree Memberyou should be good for 240 years or so
Whooohooo!! I’d better get a younger wife then. 😉
couldashouldawouldaFree Membercfinnimore- dont stop now- we need confusion, conflict, entertainment, …!
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberThe QR one is just held in with an o-ring. It should pull off ok, or put it in a vice and wiggle.
The “should” bit doesnt always work though, so a long thin item (maybe a BBQ skewer?) from the opposite side works well. Just be sure where its engaged before the hammer gets involved!
couldashouldawouldaFree Membercfin… I’m confused. But then I saw this and now I’m jumping to conclusions:

Some nice person just gave me a bottle of Glenfiddich 12.Schoolnight.
See you in hell. Slainte, STW!
Enjoy!
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberI ended up with a spare 20L of gearbox oil (it only comes in 25L drums-specific auto gearbox stuff) so I’m determined to use the rest up on something, so chains it is. Seems to be working well so far – but it does attract gunk more than my favourite Purple Extreme.
Also TJ used to recommend a wax in a “biscuit tin sized portion” that you melted and it seemed to last years.
couldashouldawouldaFree Member“Lezyne Pressure Drive Mini Pump Medium – 120psi” here.
Its pretty small. The small one must be tiny.
Mines years old and still works and the flexi hose may have saved some valves from my hamfistedness.

couldashouldawouldaFree MemberAny reason the canal / Falkirk wheel is out? Im just curious as that’s all I’ve done.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberAwwwww!
These might keep you occupied til someone who knows what they’re talking about turns up.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberWould say a sump gasket is on the cards in the future too..
LOL. You should see the top view for oil leaks!
takisawa2 – I’ve ordered and paid for a mount and will try this first. Fingers crossed, but confidence in this being the problem is somewhat shaken (no pun intended).
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberThanks honkie and spooky.
I’ll check the bearing and c/v joints. I cant believe (or is it hope?) that it would be the flywheel again.
couldashouldawouldaFree Member1- Powder. Not gel or liquid.
2- Bio powder that is. Not non – bio.
3- Highest temp.
4- Run empty or with whites you dont care about.Repeat once a month or so to be sure.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberThanks all. New mount ordered and I’ll take it from there.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberIm kind of thinking thats possible but that was done at 80k and it feels fine at idle.
#Edit – the DMF that is. And its done 30k since the new one.
Thanks i_ache.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberIt’s certainly very exciting.
For that I do apologise!
Thanks bigyinn.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberAre you after just the o-ring? Or have you mashed the bolt? Reason I ask is that the o-rings are available separate. I know cause I found some in my spares box last week.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberSo there’s play when done up in the frame and the QR (presumably) tightened? With the endcaps off and sticking your podgiest fingers in the inner races is there any movement? With the finger test – does it spin ok?
couldashouldawouldaFree Memberexilegeordie – I’ll mainly agree with marcus above. But a few small things
– a decent socket set us really handy for (the non-intended use) of drifting out and in bearings.
– you’ll have the set “forever” and dont know now what it’ll be used for in the future. If you like fixing things.
– bike specific : a decent set will have each of the hex and torx bits (and probably a few philips) on their own 1/4 or 3/8 “socket” ie you wont need to find that elusive adapter to use a hex bit with the ratchet. So in the link you posted I’ll guarantee that you’ll loose the adapter for the bits, then you’ll start using a 8mm socket, but that doesnt hold the bits properly so the bits drop out and you’ll go grey prematurely.Of course if you’ve got a decent separate set of hex keys then thats less important.
btw – I got a small Halfords Pro 1/4″ set a few years back to replace various sockets and it’s pretty good.
Anyway overall: do you like or are interested in fixing stuff? Yes- get a big set and save some cash long term. No – or just bikes – buy what you need and save some cash long term.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberSo you whacked / pressed the inner race?
Personally I’d doubt that’ll cause play straight away. Medium term it’ll go notchy as a ratchet (lesson learned the hard way).
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberWell for me – some DT swiss rims that came named / un-modeled on a commencal bike. 19mm wide claimed. Happily went ghetto with tesco 20″tubes.
couldashouldawouldaFree Member£2ish tesco 20″ tubes have “rubbery/plastic” valves and worked for me on narrow 26″ rims.
Im not sure what your problem is exactly?
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberNice! Making stuff is ace.
Is your circular saw sitting on an ironing board?
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberI had the same quandry once – a half price large that I never could afford the 2k for a med. Borderline between the two sizes. It did come with a long stem that obviously was a shortening candidate. I got on fine with it – loved it even. Then a few months later it snapped and I asked the shop for a med as the warranty replacement which the happily arranged. It did feel slightly better, but not 1k better.
Anyhow, consider seat tube length (for your height you may not get a reverb in a large for example), the cranks the same length? Otherwise, try and get a spin on it before paying?
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberIs it just me that thinks this could be a clever case of SPAM?
ie – OP replying to his own question with links

Thanks for all the ideas!!!I’ve just come accross these:
frame
notepad
What do you think?
I’m now thinking about a couple of small gifts like these…couldashouldawouldaFree MemberWe had a Bosch 1400 Express – replaced when the extended warranty thing finished.
I dont know if this helps but when the engineer came out he always pressed two buttons on the front – or a button and turn the dial – then this displayed a 2 digit code so that he knew what to replace.
Were the old bushes worn to the max? Ours had about half a cm of carbon left. Did you clean the carbon dust off the rotor?
You can probably tell I’m no expert on fixing washing machines, but I do remember on ours “a control board” blew about a week after the bushes were done. That was an audible POP and a smokey smell though so probably not related to yours.
couldashouldawouldaFree MemberI doubt its just a laptop specific problem.
Just thought of something so I’m going to refute I ever said that!
Does your laptop sleep or hibernate when you close the lid? What wireless adapter is built into it? Does it behave any better after a windows “restart”?
