Worst I’ve had was towing a caravan along a winding country behind an old guy doing 35mph and a massive queue built up behind me – I can well imagine they were thinking it was the caravan holding them up. Came to a short section of dual carriageway at a couple of junctions so I accelerated to 60 and overtook him. He then sped up, overtook me, cut me up just as the dual carriageway ended and slowed back to 35mph! Felt like I wanted to rip his throat out!! It was years ago but still makes me seethe

I have a Vodaphone Curve, monthly rental isn’t too bad at £2 per month. Not sure if I would 100% recommend it, it doesn’t seem to like trees and can take 10-15 minutes to get a fix (it’s shown my dog to be in the middle of the North Sea or 10 miles away when she’s standing beside me) but I live out in the sticks and could be a distance away from the nearest mast or maybe it’s the chip in the unit as the app always has me in the right place but that presumably uses the phone’s GPS. Seems to work ok once it’s got a fix. I made a little pouch out of an old inner tube to attach it to her collar and the battery lasts a few days

Recently had trouble with mine failing to start. Finally traced it to an isolation valve in the fuel line. The valve stem seal had failed allowing air to be drawn into the fuel line so sometimes it would fire, sometimes it wouldn’t

Seems to be quite a common fault now that I know what it was

I had this when I got my first pair of varifocals. Spoke to my optician who got me to measure the distance from my eyes to my monitor and he made up a pair of glasses specifically for PC work. Made such a difference and they just live on my desk when I’m not using them

Lee Craigie – saw her at a screening of ‘Divided’, her film about her attempt at the Tour Divide (well worth watching if you get the opportunity) and then met her during an event last year. Took the time to chat during the event and at the finish

Echoing the what size. I have a 2011 5.5 medium frame that would pass for a small.

Yes, he’s got a black box

It’s just that every year for my own renewal I give a rough figure for yearly mileage – I’ve certainly never been challenged on it. It’s not particularly clear that it’s a cap when you’ve a black box fitted

Do you mean the gaps or the boards?

I know it’s Perchy but still deserves some recognition I think

Slight thread hijack in reply to Transporter. I get the theory of assistance on climbs but how about on the flat? (probably more road bike orientated) does the power cut out completely above 15mph leaving you doing all the work? i.e. on a flat road ride at 17mph would the motor provide any assistance?

Bit of a bump and a +1 – thoroughly enjoyed that!

Don’t think you even have to be a hardened rally fan, if names like Colin MacRae, Richard Burns, Carlos Sainz etc ring a bell then it’s probably worth a listen

Could the PF van have a dash cam? No idea how you would get access to the footage but it might show him reversing for no apparent reason and lend weight to your side of the story

+1 to the seems ok at the time but in the middle of the nights it feels like a hedgehog under your eyelid – go get it checked

Hopefully I can play this too, by coincidence my BIL sent my wife a couple of photos he took whilst taking his daily exercise. No idea what it is though!

I tried watching this at the weekend and couldn’t even get to the end of the first episode. I’m obviously in the minority so when does it start to get ‘good’?

Having done a few of their events the organisers seem a decent bunch of lads and I’m sure they’re doing it for the benefit of cycling rather than as a get rich quick scheme. There are no winners in this situation

Why not go M12 and file a bit off each corner of the square to make it fit, shouldn’t need much, a mm or so? (Unless you’ve hundreds to do, of course)

Thanks for that, really enjoyed it!

Scenes with space or diving suits – the helmets always have an internal light shining in the actors eyes. I know it’s so we can see their faces but real life it would be impossible to see out!
Similar in some driving scenes, the instrument lights shining on their faces are like searchlights

It’s a bit of a catch 22, you’re not supposed to allow contact with other dogs until their jabs are up but they say socialisation should be done around 10 – 12 weeks!

I would say the risk of long term issues due to lack of socialisation outweighs the risks of parvo

What do you mean by ratchet ring, the one inside the hub itself? If so, I’ve no help to offer. The freehub is loose and can be just pulled out of the hub. There were problems with early freehubs and they sent out new ones to folks who had already bought wheels with them fitted

At least it sounds the same. My pet hate is ‘you’s’ as in the young waitress at the coffee stop strolling up and asking “have you’s decided what you’s are having yet?”

Fair comment, should’ve maybe said that I’ve only had the heads up from my uncle’s daughter. I’m just ‘thinking out loud’ whilst waiting for the solicitor to get in contact with me. Also, somebody might know an alternative, does it have to be done through a solicitor for example?

Sounds like you’re already interested so the way I see it your chance at a dream job will only come once in a blue moon (if at all) so why not go for it and if it doesn’t work out you can always fall back on not working?

Slight thread hijack – we’re getting fibre to the exchange apparently, only problem it’s still 8km from the exchange to my house! (I live out in the sticks)

Will fibre to the exchange speed things up any?

I assume the next stage will be to run cables from the exchange out to cabinets, is there a typical amount of properties a cabinet will serve i.e. how close to my property does a cabinet have to be sited to give reasonable speeds?

Is it something as simple as your hot tap being designed for high pressure systems? I bought a new tap/sink combo and the hot water just trickled out. Changed the tap for a low pressure one and problem solved!

Can you put the bike in the car?

My work is 25 miles away but I drive to the edge of town, park up where it’s free and cycle 6 miles to work. The 12 miles saved driving in town adds up, plus every few weeks there’s a major snarl up and town is gridlocked but I can just sail up the middle of everything on the bike

Don’t know TBH, I think the solicitor said fiscal
