This site might help put in perspective how much of the 1Gb link the cctv would use.

    https://www.cctvcalculator.net/en/calculations/bandwidth-calculator/

    8x4K is ~70Mb/s

Quite a few reports of folks using oko sealant watered down 2:1 so a 1250ml bottle for around a tenner gives you almost 2l

Can’t help with a view on the cheaper machines but I’ve had a foodsaver machine for over four years now and it’s still fine.

We buy whole rib-eyes and sirloins and break down as needed and freeze, no issues with freezer burn 6-9 months seem fine.

We also sous-vide a lot and the machine is invaluable for that.

The bags and rolls are as important as the machine I’ve tried the cheaper offerings from Amazon and had them fail in both the freezer and sous-vide, a friend sourced some elsewhere and had the same experience. I now stick with foodsaver rather that risk ruined food.

Contact via online form with all the details, give three working days to process the refund as agreed or you will instigate charge back via the card issuers.

Contact via fb/twitter bring the same to their attention.

Wait till Thursday and if you have no refund or contact from on-one contact the card issuer and start the chargeback process.

I have home plugs on different rings working successfully, I do see a performance hit between rings but it’s not significant

Given you’ll need that for the shed anyway it might be worth trying them before mesh solutions

My understanding is being fulfilled by or supplied by amazon makes no odds.

The item gets put into a bin of ‘identical’ items in the amazon fulfilment centre and whoever you buy from the items come from the same bin.

Other than I’m not sure I agree backup is easy – it’s a complex enough subject for me to not bother to learn.

Many people don’t bother, often they lose data and wish they had. Some then find out it wasn’t as challenging as they first thought, sadly all too late…

A lot of folk believe that a NAS with raid is a backup but sadly this is far from the case.

A couple of things they forget is that if a drive fails the lost data needs to be rebuilt from the remaining drives, this means high io on the remaining drives for the rebuild duration.
If the drive have failed because it’s reached the end of its lifespan hammering the remaining drives that are the same age has associated risks and if one of them fails then the data’s gone.

Another thing to consider is bad batches, if your raid array has disks from the same manufacturing batch then batch or firmware issues can increase multiple failures.

NAS and raid are great if you have either totally disposable data or a robust backup plan.

Why ? He’s saved more folk from potential death/ life threatening injury

Err perhaps because taking a human life is likely to a significant and life changing event no matter the circumstances.

Obviously there are exceptions, you know psychopaths, sociopaths and stuff…

What does your contract of employment say about notice of termination?

is it a minimum of 4 weeks, 4 weeks or a calendar month etc?

With a copy of your employment contract perhaps a short consultation with an employment lawyer might confirm it if still ambiguous.

There’s a lot of talk about 5 year old systems being dropped but those devices actually date from 2005 connect amp(zp100 at the time), 2006 connect (zp80 at the time) and 2009 play 5 (zone player s5 at the time).

How many of us have a 2005 computer that you expect to run the latest os on?

The platforms that are being dropped are based on 11-15 year old platforms irrespective of when they were purchased.

Also we need to consider that it’s not simply Sonos making this call, changes made by the bbc, Spotify, deezer, tunein all have a part to play and require Sonos to release updated software.

I can remember when the bbc made changes to its streaming services and listen-again functionality was lost for a month or two, totally out of Sonos control.

There comes a point in all computers lifecycles where it’s no longer technically and / or commercially viable to continue support, 11-15 years doesn’t seem unreasonable to me.

Seems a no brainier to me, it’s a work tool that you’ll use for years making it future proof for £400 is sensible.

I assume as it’s a work tool it’s tax deductible too?

If it was me I’d stall the other insurance co to give time to get a couple of quotes from local body shops, that way you can gauge the likely cost to repair and format a plan of attack.

If the repair quotes are less than say 75% of the value according to autotrader I’d expect a good chance of repair, higher and you’ll be getting into the un-economical repair zone.

    That is a muppety.

However: yesterday I got some ambient TV lights. Multicolour LEDs that come on a roll. What did I do? Got the scissors out and proceeded to cut the roll into four lengths for affixing to the back of the telly.
    Bin.

    Perhaps not.
