I remember reading somewhere a quote from Guy Martin saying something along the lines of:

“If your bottom bracket isn’t knackered after six month, you’re not riding hard enough”

Mine usually last anything between said six months and about a year before they are totally goosed.

I’ve ridden both, both good bikes but preferred the slackline. A 120mm fork will make the bb quite low mind.

Could be where some old dh tracks used to be, I won’t say where as they’re clearly trying to keep it secret. Plus I may be entirely wrong in my assumption.

Going over the top can get pretty wet and boggy, though the worst bits can be ridden round.

It’ll probably be pretty busy too so go early morning or later on, less chance of meeting grumpy walkers (it is cheeky after all) and just better if you’re not stopping as much to avoid groups of other people.

Ah that makes more sense. That UCI site is awful and not easy to find stuff on, good digging there to get the standings.

    kimber ta :)

The rankings on the UCI do seem different to others i’ve seen, do these show something else other than points accrued for the 6 races this season so far?

You mean round 7, there have already been 6 races, this is the final race for 2014. Then we have world champs next weekend

The bridleway is rideable in parts yes, how many parts depends on your level of technical skill. I’ve never managed to ride it all, don’t think i’ll ever be able to, can’t say I found it that enjoyable but it’s certainly challenging.

I’m selling my medium 26 bandit frame.

Wish I’d not bought anything new now as i’d like to try out these new transition frames.

Any links to articles or news on these, all I have seen so far is one pic of a proto that Lars is running (looks similar to one above)

@jairaj Been riding the 29er and 26er hardtails and just fancy something different in the full suss department, not sure what yet but need to sell things on to fund. Bandit is a great wee bike though, may get the newer version

I’m most likely going to be selling a Transition Bandit frame if you did fancy something 2nd hand in 26″ flavour

Racing should be finished by 3pm (it starts at 9:30)

Not sure what the route is so don’t know what trails will or won’t be open, give them a shout on facebook they’re pretty quick to respond https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cyclewise/70941835663

Mine look no better or worse than any other fork i’ve used and abused for a year or so. Main marks are from cable rub or crash damage.

£385 for frame only. I do quite like the one I own.

Only rode up to and down from the swimming hole (black moss pot) and I found the footpath more rideable than the bridleway, neither are really very good tbh.

My Bandit has this rubbing too, it’s only very slight however so not overly worried. Helitape seems a good option though.

Lakes rider here, running the purgatory grid on the back (went up tubeless dead easy) and chunky monkey up front (also goes tubeless ok) decent combo so far.

The ride down Nan Bield will be very technical, then once down at Haweswater it’s a big slog up Gatesgarth.

I’d be more inclined to cut across Harter Fell once you’re at the top and head down the pretty fun descent to Kentmere reservoir, you’ve then got a few options in returning to Staveley depending how far you wish to ride.

Transition Bandit 26. 130 out back and can take up to 160 up front, though most folk run theirs with 140 – 150, quite a short fun playable bike.

If you head towards Ambleside you could ride up to Town End and down Jenkin Crag, then if you still wanted more cycle through Ambleside and ride around Loughrigg Fell.

Alternatively pop down to Staveley and ride one of the routes round there. Wheelbase have maps to buy of a few different routes around Garburn, Kentmere etc.
