    Anyone know of any Stache deals about for size 19.5? Or Loki size L?

    Might up to budget to 2k for the right deal.

    How’s the sizing on the Stache?

    Not sure why I was set on a steel frame, but open for options now.

    Thanks for the replies, I can see some 2016 deals but my concern is that last years bikes are not proper Plus ready, given things change so quick etc…?

    Found a 2016 Genesis Tarn 20 27 Plus for £1400 with 25% discount, seems quite good.

    Technology has certainly moved on but in my opinion cable disc brakes are simply just not great. Loads of people run them and are happy but for me I’d only buy hydraulic. Main reason being lever feel, with hydraulic you can 1 finger brake and needs little force. With cable you often need a hand full and great force, plus cable/system stretch which often means long lever travel and even going to the bars before you lock a wheel. And then you have the single sided pad actuation with most of the cable disc brakes, another weakness and pain to take care.

    So for me no.

    I’ve just taken off a pair of FSA CX Expert calipers and gone Shimano hydraulic, the difference is another world, in all ways. The negative is that buying hydraulic cost more, but for me it’s definitely worth it.

    Extremely happy with my Spesh Crux; not yet a year old but has been ridden hard over some long rocky/rooty tours and so far it’s bullet proof.

    Perhaps you could fine some old stock of the 2016 Specialized Crux Elite X1 as that would almost meet your budget.

    How on earth did I not know this 🙁

    Just Googled about and found a thread on MTBR with almost identical failure picture; looks like I may has just learnt an expensive lesson 😥

    Guess if I’m lucky the Spesh will offer a crash replacement rim!

    How had the other rims failed from being next to the exhaust? where there any photos?

    Normally it travels above but on the day I found the issue I’d used a different type of carrier which hung the wheel nearer but still not directly in line with the exhaust. As well as no damage the rim was perfectly clean, meaning no signs of exhaust debri etc.

    Thing is, what you think would be your dream job often changes once you get that dream job.

    In 2006 I left the UK to be the Operations Director and run the Mega Car company Koenisgsegg; to live the Dream I thought:
    1) Move to Sweden;
    2) Live by the sea and endless golden sand beaches;
    3) Cycle to work every day;
    4) Run a company making some of the most mad mega cars in the world;
    5) Drive those cars on a daily basis;
    6) Etc etc…..

    Thing was after two years of doing that I resigned; because it wasn’t just a job it was a life, and quite honestly I didn’t want my life to be work!

    So readjusted, kept items 1, 2 & 6, added a very good normally ish job, house, kids and now living the dream.

    Of course not everything is simple and carefree (i.e. Instagram), but it’s not damn bad I must say.

    For the record this was my favourite K’egg to drive:

    Digging up an old post here but can anyone explain exactly why a normal 15mm thro hub won’t fit the RS-1?

    Googled around and can’t find a straight explanation; only that it must have the predictive steer hub etc etc…

    I had some emails with Marco at the shop to get the info.

    Congrats on the new purchase; homing in on one myself now…

    Any chance you could email me that spreadsheet as having last min doubts now 😕

    On the word of the seller, not seen it myself yet:

    No bearing changes nor shock servicing; said given the low mileage and usage its not needed it.
    Doesn’t seemed to have been a racers hack; more a lux XC and he’s selling it due to a change in direction and lack of use.

    Are Specialized a stickler for that warranty rule; or are there cases of goodwill coverage? Was hoping the latter.

    New they seem to have retailed at about £7k for the complete bike; can’t find a frameset price but found $5.5k shown for the Sworks at that time.

    Yes, used and ridden ~700 miles.

    I guess quite desireable as they seems to few a far between up for sale.

    Thanks for the tip but I only want the frameset.

    Been offered a 2014 Epic Expert Carbon WC frameset for £2k so far; but no S-Works.

    I’m luckily enough to be in exactly the same situation, currently scouring the globe trying to find one for a reasonable price.

    After doing the ‘stare at sizing chart’ thing between all the manufacturers I’m convinced a size L is right for me being 6’2” and 34” inside leg; will probably run a 90cm stem to get the fit I want.

    Let me know if you come across any ‘two for one’ deals 😆

    Went tubs for all out performance and just felt clinchers would sell the build short; plus always wanted them on my previous CX bikes and this was the dream build to do it. So far I actually see zero negatives and only positives, but costs more.

    Funnily enough nearly went Di2 but all things considered I think that Shimano aren’t really ready with real high end options for a dedicated 1×11 hydro CX build. Maybe that will change when they come out with a DA hydro option and a DA rear mech with clutch etc…

    I do race but due to having young kids training/racing takes 2nd place in these years. It gets ridden properly every week but no need for a 2nd pit stop build at the mo lol.

    Grifos at this point in the season?

    Welcome to Skåne 😉

    The front brake line is on the short side but like stated already it doesn’t restrict the turn. The rear mech cable might look a little long but I didn’t want to shorten it any more as the exit angle from the frame is quite high and I wanted to keep a soft cable curve and the mech feel light.

    The only thing I will be changing it the stem length; finding the 110mm a little long since my old CX build had bar levers and without them I now spend much more time on the hoods. So will swap to a 70mm stem but sticking with the Course SL.

    I don’t live in the mud sodden UK, so mud isn’t really an issue for me; but the RED cassette does have exit space although maybe not as much as some open back ones mind.

    Thanks for the replies anyway.

    Having 2 kids over the last 6 years, owning 5 difference prams and having tried most brands over that time my recommendation would be an Emmaljunga[/url] . The other is Brio but I’m not sure if you can buy that in the UK at the moment.

    I would also go as far to say avoid Bugaboo; our own personal ownership experience is not good, and luckily their warranty replacement service is good.

    I guess the other negative is that additional force placed on a covered bike could also affect the load on the rack itself

    Maybe I just to accept the fact that my bike will get dirty without me riding it 😯
