Hiring a bike… Probably a DRZ-650. I shall endeavour to take lots of photos and report back.

Cheers for the link Gareth and the other tips everyone else.

We will have a paper map, but have been advised that we’ll rely on GPS as there’s often a lack of defined roads.. 🙂

Arguably wrong section due to involving an engine – looks like I can’t move it though…

You’ll get about 1,000 sgft for that here:

Looks like I’ll be renting for a while longer…

Aston Villa: David O’Leary & John Gregory.

Both for squandering cash, particularly DOL. Though Gregory did buy Bosko Balaban and is still not forgiven.

Absolutely no issues with mine at all, though I’ve met others who have had problems. Seems it’s a bit of a lottery whether you get a duff one or not.

The only available pic to hand, sorry about the quality. My 26″ wheeled 575 hiding its triple chainset in Singapore jungle.

Thanks, will look at feasibility of getting to Pokhara as paragliding appeals too.

I’d echo the posts above about getting inland to see the good bits of Bali, particularly Ubud.

If you want some beach time, I would avoid the coast of Bali completely and head to Lombok or the Gilis. Kuta for example, couldn’t be further removed from it’s namesake in Bali, Gili T for partying (especially if you enjoy a mushroom shake 😈 ), Gili Air or Meno for tranquility.

Alternatively take an inexpensive flight from Bali to Labuan Bajo and visit Komodo and Flores to see Komodo Dragons. You can do an overnight boat trip, sleeping on the boat under an amazing blanket of stars. The national park is pretty amazing, one of my favourite places in Indo. The Komodo national park is also worth going to if you’re an an experienced, advanced diver. Some of the best diving I’ve done in SE Asia, particularly if you like big pelagic life (Mantas, Sharks, etc).

Jakarta is good for a night out, I particularly like Skye bar, a rooftop haven where you can really get a sense of the sprawl of “The Big Durian”. Also worth giving Stadium a visit, totally safe but not for the fainthearted!

I’m a regular visitor to Bali and other parts of Indonesia, so if you have any specific questions feel free to drop me an email…

Igniting lighter fuel fires… in my bedroom!

That makes two of us! I also used to ignite them in my den, generally featuring matchbox cars.

Personally, I went for “tribal shit” 🙂

I knew I wanted a hammerhead and in that kind of style. I met 3 artists who all came up with some initial designs and from that worked closely with my favourite to end up with what you see above.

Definitely go with a unique piece rather than choosing something from a book of stencils in my opinion.

+1 for some GPS detective work. Maybe he’s from Melchester?

There are only 14 left on the road in SG.

Got the transfer of ownership through from the LTA today (the equivalent of the logbook) and it started life as a yellow monster.

It has the red stripe down the tank, which will be re-instated post respray.

It will be keeping both of its (aged) wheels firmly on the ground. 🙂

Cheers for all the replies and tips. Decision made; it’s staying white.

I’ll post a couple more pics up once it’s had its fresh coat of paint. On the look out for some more modern wheels also.

Glad to hear you’re ok curious.

Just a note to encourage people to report incidents like these. I had an incident with a very aggressive driver a couple of years ago. No witnesses but reported it anyway. The Police popped round for a chat with the owner of the vehicle and it turned out it was the son who was driving. I received a letter of apology from said son and was informed he would no longer have access to father’s car. One less dick on the road: Result!

White does make sense I think.

No dry clutch, the 400s came with a wet clutch.

Wheels will certainly be next on the upgrade list. However it needs some more pressing stuff doing first (like getting it road legal again and sorting the mess of the loom out 🙂 )

    Thanks all

Another Clio, this time at Silverstone:

My last car before I emigrated. Now in the one of the most expensive countries to own a car so no more car ownership for me for a while.

    I miss my Clio. 🙁

Don’t think so, as I’m in Singapore so it’s hot all the time. Was just a 15km ride back from meeting friends for dinner.

It’s markedly cooler inside too, so surprised it happened a while after I got home.

On a bike, but a powered version, I overtook a King Cobra in Malaysia.

Certainly spiced up that day’s dirt biking!
