The Anthem X’s at Pauls look pretty good.

The Giant Anthem X 29er 1 won trail bike of the year at WMB for what it’s worth.

I’ve been really impressed with my Expert Tepee.

I paid £15k for a pre-reg 130bhp Expert Leisure from Howards Peugeot in Yoevil which I thought was a pretty good deal. It only had 10 miles on the clock.

I used them for some Surly parts and they were spot on.

I initially e-mailed them an enquiry and they got back to me really quickly.

Wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Is it this one?

It might be just the way pictures have turned out, but that whole top tube looks bent.

It’s nice to have a challenge and something to spur me on.

Not sure I’ll manage 500 miles every month due to shift work, but I’ll have a go; just joined the Endomondo group now.

Someone mentioned on the Hope Tech Facebook page that the pedals weren’t as grippy as they’d liked.

Hope replied to the post stating that they make slightly longer hollow pins.

It might be to celebrate ‘Greg’s historic win,’ but that colour is awful.

You’ll be paying a total of just over £1700 on that I reckon.

It’s worth considering the warranty as well, you might end up having to send the frame back to the USA for any claims and the postage has gone really dear now.

I imported a frame and parts (fork, bars, stem, seatpost) a couple of years ago which had a total value of £2878.

My import duty and VAT on that came to a total of £751.82.

It can work out pretty dear and I only really think it’s worth it, if it’s a model you can’t buy over here.

The car will be my main drive and using it for commuting as well as, hopefully, for weekends away biking, walking, camping etc. it will also be our car for the next 3 years and hoping to have a dog and our first child so the car needss to be suitable for all the associated stuff with these.

I pretty much have the same car criteria as yourself and need to be able to transport 2 dogs and a bike.

I would say go for a Berlingo, especially if you throw a dog into the equation. Consider how you are going to transport the dog, if you’re going to use a travel cage; it’s pretty much impossible to get a cage, bike and luggage into an estate car.

Even the largest estate car is very limited in height compared to the likes of a Berlingo and you should be able to get a dog cage and multiple bikes in whilst only needing to remove the front wheel. An estate car will probably need you to dismantle the bike.

After having the same needs myself, I ended up with a Peugeot Expert Tepee. I actually went to go an buy a Berlingo, but they had a huge discount on a pre-reg Expert; so ended up with that.

The Mondeo will obviously be a much nicer drive than the Berlingo, but there is no point paying out for a car if it doesn’t do what you need it to; no matter how nice it is.

Where’d you order your XX1 from Jamj? I’m on a “bargain”* hunt.

Around £58 was the cheapest I found via google for the driver a few days ago.

Amplebrew – do you not need any adaptors with the CK BB, like you do with a hope BB for example? Is yours just the standard mtn BB?

*It’s all relative

No extra adapters needed with the CK BB, all the bits required come as standard.

I’ve previously ordered all my XX1 bits from Tweeks.. Not too sure who is cheapest at the mo, but Tweeks are showing 25% off.

I priced up the X01 and the XX1 and there wasn’t much in it at the time, so I just went for the XX1

I’m running my XX1 cranks on a standard Chris King BB.

I don’t think that Shimano BB’s will work as the spacing is different with SRAM. The Chris King BB’s come with the necessary SRAM spacers.

Hope will work, but I believe you need to buy an extra spacer kit for it, part number BBSP109. They’re only £8.25 though from CRC

I’d stay well clear of RaceFace BB’s, they’re rubbish.

Can’t help on the Hope freehub, I’m running my XX1 group on a DT and a Paul Comp freehub.

I’d go for silver components on the blue frame and get a silver seat clamp to match.

I had pretty much the same thought when I got my Dekerf and ended up going for an Olive green colour with black components.

I keep looking at the amber walled Panaracer Dart and Smokes from Bike Discount and have so far resisted. It’s probably only a matter of time though.

@ amplebrew. Very cool. JRA built my fat bike wheels and I noticed your purple loveliness on their Instagram feed.

Yeah, I’m really excited about them getting them built up. I think they’ll look great with the ti frame.

Amplebrew …. Don’t suppose the Duallys are being built into purple Pauls hubs?

They sure are 8)

I got 3 hubs from Paul Comp; 2 Whub’s and a Rhub with an XD freehub.

JRA have already built one of the Whub’s onto a Rolling Darryl for me, there is just a bit of a wait on the Duallys.

That sheep is lovely.

Amplebrew – look forward to seeing the jones ti built up, didn’t you build up a spaceframe a few months back?

Hi Gotama,

Yeah I’ve also got a steel spaceframe singlespeed which I love to bits.

I’m just waiting for an Eriksen post and a pair of Dually rims to arrive for the Jones ti. Unfortunately the Dually rims aren’t expected to arrive until mid January :(

there seems to be a distinct lack of Ti seatpost with ti frame? is it not the done thing? *now has doubts about sticking an erikson in the sheep*

Definitely no issues with a ti post in a ti frame. I’m running the Thomson on my Mosaic, but there is an Eriksen post on it’s way to me for my Jones.

That stem calc tool is great. Very handy.

Edit – Aspire Velotech are listing the 80mm 10 degree stem, so it might not be too far off?
Maybe; I’ll keep an eye on that.

The stem calc tool is very good – thanks.

I’ve used that stem calc tool quite a bit, especially before committing to buying a new stem. Takes the guess work and expense out of it.

The Thomson X4 10 degree stems are reversible with graphics that read both ways.
Sadly, the Thomson 80mm 10deg stem isn’t available yet.

Ah, sorry about that didn’t realise.

Just out of interest, if you have a look at this link you can mess around with different stem lengths and rise and see how it will affect your setup.

I’ve found it really handy.

KMC610 they were £8 on crc.

Another fan of the Z610 here.

I’ve been running a Z610 HX and it’s been faultless.

I’d certainly recommend one and as sv said they’re £7.99 at CRC.

wow amplebrew mw80s overshoes and wollie socks ,thought i suffered with cold feet.
mw 80s and merino socks and i,m happy.

I’ve always suffered with really cold feet and hands. I wear MO88’s until the end of September and then once we hit October, the MW80’s get a dusting off.

The Woolie Boolie’s get worn all year.

I’m really bad for having cold feet and have been wearing my MW80’s with Endura MT500 overshoes and Woolie Boolie socks since the beginning of October.

I’d definitely recommend the Woolie Boolie socks.
