Ahhh that’s probably it then, there seems to be copious amounts of grease all over the air spring.
Will take a look tomorrow morning.

Turns out there was air “trapped” in the lowers, creating an artificial air-spring. Fixed it by pushing a cable-tie between the damper and the stanchion, which let all the air out with a hiss.

    Thanks for the suggestions!
No, I dont think it’s to do with my riding, I used to frequently get full travel.
Any idea of any fixes I can have a go at tonight before tomorrow as I’ve got a race.
Would undoing the footnut allow the air to escape if it’s stuck in the lowers?

I’ll have a look at that green next time I go in, thanks!
Any recommendations of a clearcoat that does work well?

    Thanks! Really useful info!
I was going to use halfords spray paint.
so I should spray the whole frame cream, mask it off, then do the racing green?
nice looking bike, I bet that was a job and a half!
I’ll get some of that tape too.
    If you’re going to do a job………

Dremel is probably the best bet.
I took off the outer race and removed the bearings then cut through the inner race with a plasma cutter and it worked brilliantly!

Does anyone know if I should be able to use my T6 charger on my X2 battery?
My X2 came with a charger which has an American plug and I don’t want to shed out for an adapter. 🙄

    Sorry slightly off topic.

I’m sure you will be able to try them on.
There were loads of helmets at places like the Trek and Specialized stalls.
Lazer were also there I think.

Dare to be had BOGOF on everything!

Most of the stands’ merchandise was on show, and wasn’t for sale, although, to be fair I didn’t enquire.

Getting hold of clothing should be okay, you might be lucky with a new helmet though – much cheaper online any way.

Steel hardtail….. reasonably unoffensive, kind of indie………bound to get thumbs up from STW.

I get the feeling if you’d have posted a FS a different reaction would have been recieved.

Nice bike by the way! 😛

I wash mine out thoroughly before each ride and it tastes fine…. it only tastes of plastic when the water is left there for any period of time.

When I lived in a flat I washed my bike in the bath…

    😯

Sounds like student halls to me.
I’ve moved into mine and sneaked the mtb and roadie in through the back door which is a fire exit.
I’m going to cross the bikewash bridge when I come to it. You can get a hose adapter to fit onto a sink tap though, so that might be worth a shot.
I’ll ask some 2nd years what they did.

EDIT: Where’s the bike at the moment?

Yeah it can be used to steretype homosexuals, but project quite clearly meant that he thought they lacked moral backbone.
Ironic Stupid to call someone a homophobe for making a pro-gay equality thread IMO.

how homophobic your comments are, i take it your limp wristed comment is a gay reference

Quite judgemental don’t you think? The guy is complaining about a lack of support for gay footballers and you declare him a homophobe.

Limp-wrists aren’t a refrence to homosexuality any more than a lack of a back-bone is. It just refers to a lack of moral or physical strength. Unless of course you think that makes someone a homosexual?

    Don’t take offence

    How could I? 😯

In answer to your question, yeah I have, I’ll talk to them about it. That could save me a lot of money, I really can’t afford to shed out £300 on insurance at the moment.

    Many thanks

Is that under your home insurance?
    I can’t do that as I don’t have a home 🙄

What music would you suggest to the non-gnar xc video then?

    Not heavy dubstep.

Something more mellow. If were making an XC edit right now, I’d probably use Capital Cities – Safe and Sound, or maybe some Passion Pit.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the riding and the footage is great, just not well-matched with the music, it’s subjective though, so you can disregard everyone’s my opinion entirely if you want.

Good luck with your next edit!

Nicely shot, but with the music and build up I was expecting some super gnar downhill shredding, and ummmm, was left a little disappointed.

(no offence to your riding skillz, I’m most people on here could do no better, they were fine but the xc just didn’t suit the music).

Change the music and it would be great.

They did use DH3 in the end, but they added in an annoying uphill bit before the fire road.

I think the XC descent is also supposed to be the red DH, which they used as well.

Any reason the shock is that way round? If not IMO it looks better the other way.

Really nice graphics though, reminds me of the patriot!

Sounds like that could be interesting, with only fresh cut tracks 🙂

Scottfitz – don’t suppose you know if there are any photos about, other than the ones on Roots and Rain, I’m trying to hunt mine down. #117.

New Kona Process 153 worth a look, that’d be near the top of my list.

The butcher would be better than a purgatory if you want to keep it on for winter.

In that case, I think I’ll just use Northwind’s combo, it seems very sensible.

Black Chilli Baron it is, and I think I’ll put a Spesh Purgatory on the back, after reading another thread.

Northwind do you bother shedding the extra £s for the Black Chili compound?

Sounds like I should just whack a baron on the front, and leave the rear as a high roller?

Hans Dampf from Germany for £30?

Hmmmmmmmm, maybe baron rear, dampf front?

    bonty mud x

Although brilliant in the mud, probably not a good idea for the dryer months.

On the front not very well as far as I’m concerned, preferred my HR s.

Not what I was hoping to hear 😡

It’s these or the more expensive Black Chili Conti Barons, unless anyone has any better suggestions.

Divide that by 50%, then 50% again and then if you take another 20% off that, then thats the likely max output.

Wow, that ends up at 100,000 lumens then, that really is a bargain to be had! 😆

    See this thread

    and this one

Got one coming in the post, from what I’ve heard you can’t really go wrong, although the battery life isn’t fantastic at about 3 hours on medium (which is plenty apparently)

Great pictures Scottfitz. Does anyone know who else was taking photos? The ones on roots and rain have have a gap between about 11:30 and 12:00 and I know there was definitely a photographer when I did Stage 1 Rd 1 at 11:56.

    Many thanks

P.S Downhill tyre were a bad idea.

+2, my high rollers were bloody dangerous on the bottom section of stage 3, not too good climbing in the mud either.
