Fair enough, everyone loves their Tallboys. Budget and V4M are definite factors in my decision on the Whyte.

Fair enough andy, I doubt you’ll regret it. I’ve never regretted buying a bike I really liked, whatever the price, but have regretted plenty that I bought thinking they were good value but never got on with so lost money selling them on.

Wonder if they’ll start to flog off the test fleet soon?

There’s no point keeping demo bikes if they’ve got no customer stock.

Zero G Downend in Bristol had a large last week.

Mine’s landed. It’s got to be said the Ikon is pretty tight on the driveside chainstay. Anyone put a 2.25 Nic or Ron in there? (or anything else that kind of size).

Lovin’ the bearing caps (do they work?) and the matching stem faceplate. The attention to detail was part of the sell for me, it’s a good sign for the product as a whole I hope.

It felt good on a bump-up-the-kerbs-in-the-car-park test, but what new bike doesn’t?

I have had mine now since around the begining of Jan. I tried it on in the shop but didnt quite like the feel of the cockpit, figured the bars had a tad too much back sweep for me. Anyway I bought it and changed the bars then it was fine. I also swapped the brakes and shifters.

This is the first off the shelf bike I have bought since around 2006, I’ve always built to my own spec but this bike is the mutts.

I’m 5ft 10 and went for the medium, I would say i am right on the point of going to a large but this fits me fine. i got it for a good price and it was the components on offer that persuaded me.

I put a 2.2 Mountain king on the back and that is close on the driveside chainstay.

    Some pics.

Yeah me too, first off the shelf for > 10 years, odd feeling isn’t? I’ve changed the bars, brakes and transmission though for spares I already had.

It’s a nicer looking bike in the flesh than in the pics, if a little cable-tastic perhaps.

Are your MKs OK tubeless on the stock rims?

Yeah they are fine although Ive not gone tubeless on this yet. I’m quite impressed with the Ardent on the front.

I had to re-route all the cables, they were just chucked on from stock.

As a Whyte stockist I can confirm that these are proper thin on the ground, however I think there are a small amount of standard T-129 available, £250 will buy you a reverb and hey presto.

If anyone is struggling for one, we have a medium T-129s and a large T-129 available (Hertfordshire)

2.25 racing ralphs fit ok on the back.
