    I love this stuff:

Use it on all my brake pistons on both bikes and car.
Buy this and also spray silicone lube for all your plastic and brake lubrication needs!!

Otehr manufactures make it as well and other products will be safe Motorcycle shops will often sell it in small quantities but even a big tub is only a few quid.
I am not certain about GT85 but I doubt it and I wouldn't use it.

red rubber grease keeps my brakes working well

Do not use GT85/WD40 on any kind of rubber seal.

It was a 'joke', hence the embarrased thingy.
Got some silicone grease I use for rubber stuff, and yeh that red rubber grease is good stuff.

Jackal, I know it was a joke 😉
But some folk on here take things a bit literal when it comes to tech advise. I would hate for the thick members of STW to have perished rubber, would do nothing for the gene pool!

    Do not use GT85

I've always been told GT85 is perfectly fine on rubber seals. Its just not good on bearings and pivots and so on as it can flush out the grease.

Which rubber seals? Not all seals are equal.

GT85 and WD40 may be safe with most rubber, but they leave an oily residue behind which can be problematic (on brake seals for example).

WD40/3-in-1 do a silicone spray (link) or Hunter do an excellent silicone lubricant. I use the Hunter stuff for (DOT fluid) caliper/lever overhauls and/or rebuilds, and the silicone spray for cleaning calipers.
