Not tractors in the agricultural sense, but two machines associated with the forestry in mid Wales - seen on the approach road to Sweet Lamb Rally Centre in early June this year

This came past our house a few weeks ago. I think I added it to the 'Picture of the Day' thread, but I'd forgotten about Tractor Trumps at the time. It's a Fowler Ploughing Engine, 'The Chief' model, built in Leeds in 1875, and it was grinding its way southwards through eastern Shrops on 19th July, presumably on its way to some agricultural show. Sorry about the exposure being a bit dark, despite the small amount of blue sky in the background, the day was actually quite gloomy.

Forest Monster is an HSM, know a guy with one, very useful bit of kit for getting out big trees.

The other two forestry machines look familiar to me, especially as the Tigercat appears to have it's back open for repairs 😆.

I was stuck behind what I thought was a tractor towing a trailer full of bales doing about 30km/h on the B310 in Allgäu yesterday. After about 5-6km I managed to overtake it on a straight section of road.

It wasn't a tractor it was a 1960s Unimog driven by what looked like a teenage girl with her grandad.  It really made me smile.

I'd like a cool Grandad with an old Unimog and I'm in my 50s

The bells are in case you don't hear the tractor coming.

A couple of local churches held a tractor run/rally today, and there was a great rumbling earlier when the convoy drove past the end of our row of houses. I missed the first part of it, but got a few pictures of the tail-enders.

Allis-Chalmers:-

A modern Fendt, bloody huge compared to most of what was going by:

This one was smoking unhealthily, tbh:-

A couple of little, grey jobs, make & model unknown:-

There's a few more to come, but it looks like I've maybe reached the limit of images for today.

Might have been a slurry scraper?
Usual end of life job for small tractors and you'd swap the wheels for better traction in reverse.

I'll attempt to put up the rest from yesterday afternoon; this may or may not work...

Massey Ferguson 135 with a small trailer:-

A pretty elderly MF (1960s A-reg) with a cheerful driver:-

Edit - forum's only allowing me to put two external 'postimages' links into any single post, so I've had to split these 6 photos into 3 posts. Heyho.

And last but not least, an MF-135, late 60s or early 70s F-registration, who was playing 'tail end Charlie' for the convoy:-

Interesting French thing - 2 cylinder, 4 pistons (opposing pairs). Seat suspension like a swing arm. Would have been interesting to see it running but only about ⅓ of them went in the ring.

A little off topic, but I'm rethinking my lawnmower options for a tractor that would fit in my garden.

A non yellow JCB Fastrac with a couple of Pottinger mowers. I'm always surprised how fast that setup can move. That's a big field and once he'd navigated the headlands, there was some proper speed mowing going on 😉

IMG_0926.jpeg

Bonus for the string from the back of the cab used to switch on the rear mower 😉 It was the annual open garden event so the bone shaker trailer was being towed by a little New Holland (4040 maybe?). Does well towing 16-20 people up some local steep hills. Well until you look behind you and see how much traffic was queuing behind 🙂
