It’s time to rebuild the Explosif as part of a move-the-bits-around-the-bikes fest.

What I am trying to work out is… what’s the longest travel fork I can get on it without messing up the geometry? It’s an 18″ 853 1998 frame.

I THINK the fork that originally came with it would have been a Marz Z2 with an axle to crown of 432.5mm and that it had 71 degree head and 74 degree seat angles, without sag. Can anyone confirm this?

On the offchance that anyone is interested… plan is to rebuild this bike with the right geometry (current fork is way too long) and with bits to make it as maintenance free as possible – so thinking Alfine rear hub and magura rim brakes (there’s no disc mount on the back of these things).
