  • Garage security – will one of those side bolts fit this door?

My garage doors have a lip where the front panel in the ‘channel’ that the bolts are supposed to go through. Before I buy the bolts I want to check that it will work – it looks like the lip would interfere with the bolts. What does the STW oracle think?

    What side bolts?

Could you not just trim the metal lip with a junior hack saw and a pair of pliers to bend it out of the way?

I’m not sure I’d get a junior hacksaw in there, maybe and dremel (if I had one).
I thought the bolts were all pretty much the same – ones like these:

Sorry for the crap pic,i was trawling through my pics to find one thathas the garage door on it and this is the best I can do

Anyway look at the pic and you will see a drilled hole, the door comes down with bolt on it into the hole, bolted is screw tothe garage door with security coach bolts

    Type of bolt then padlocked

Edit forget the bit on the wooden post as the hole in the brickwork serves that purpose
