I have mk1 SLX triple cranks with 22t granny and until recently I had a 36t steel ring off a Deore chainset. All my rings have previously been 9 speed. My chain is a 10 speed Sram. Shifting has been perfect.
I just fitted a 32t SLX 10 speed ring and now I can’t shift up or down.
What have I done? If I set up the front derailleur to shift down, it won’t shift up and vice versa.
My front derailleur is direct mount so it is a bit high, is that affecting it?

I measured the gap between my rings – 10.5mm from centre to centre of the teeth. I think it’s too wide. Therefore 9 speed and 10 speed rings might have different ‘dishes’ and if mixed, they can affect chainring spacing.
    Any ideas?
I’m going to put spacers behind the middle ring tonight and do a quick test.

In case anyone’s interested, I had my steel granny ring on ‘inside out’. It affected the chainring spacing by 2mm.
