So my rebound knob has jammed firm..
Has anyone had this problem and managed to unstick it??
Apparently fox did not fit a seal on the rebound adjustment knob so muck and water gradually gets into where the detent ball bearing sits and corrodes it.
I had read that fixing required dismantling the entire damper, so I was quite chuffed at extracting the rebound shaft without doing this. I just removed the lowers, clamped the damper shaft with the forks inverted (so the oil doesn't come out) with a DIY shaft clamp (drilled a hole in some wood) and unscrewed the shaft.
However, I am now completely unable to unscrew the rebound adjuster as per steps 28-29 here...

grr... Might end up having to send them off anyway :/
Has anyone else attempted this???

No help i am afraid. I had this on my fox 34 FIT4 forks about 2 years ago. It was on a 6 month old bike so I just warranted them via CRC. Been ok since they serviced them.

I have had a few seized on service forks, I think I clamped one part in a shaft clamp and unscrewed the other part, or might have refitted the red knob to undo the needle if you clamp the externally threaded section gently. I have only done them as part of a full service so dont know if you will introduce air into the damper or not, you can always turn it the right way up and bleed it if you have a bit of rubber tube and a syringe if needed.
You might need a new detent ball and spring if they are corroded, use plenty marine grease (or any thick sticky grease) on the detent and adjuster threads.
Sadly if you get a new fork the first think you want to do is strip it and grease the adjusters.

Thanks bigyan, I managed to unscrew it using a shaft clamp. I promptly lost the corroded ball and spring though! I've put it back together without the ball for now, just using lots of grease instead.

They are a wee barstard, I strip them over over a large tray so it catches anything you drop.
