Does any one have a suggestion for a descent from Llyn Cowlyd down to the Conwy valley. This makes part of one of my Favorite rides (Trefriw – Crafnant – Capel Curig – colwyd – trefriw) but it always ends in a huge tarmac descent.

Any ideas on a grand finale?!

Buy/look at a newer OS 1:25,000 explorer map and a permissive path has appeared ont the track under/alongside that huge pipeline.

Hmm, didn’t realise how bigger drop it is on tarmac (430m and down .. )
I’v eonly ever done it from capel curig so the tarmac hasn’t bothered me quite so much

Maybe trying finding something here? 1:50k has that wood as Forestry Comission so maybe less of issue?

I’ve never quite liked the boggy/moorland climb from capel curig upto the resevior all that much as per the guidebooks so

There is a one down from the bottom corner of Llyn Geirionydd but it is a footpath and might be a bit difficult to blend in to your ride .

I tried following the footpath from lledwigan over to colwyd. It starts out as doubletrack but turned into a boggy moorland hike a bike from hell.
