Making Year 12 students do a week of 'work experience' after they have completed their Mocks. Fair enough if the student would like to do it, but my two are going to Uni (and already have part-time jobs), so working in local shops / hairdressers etc seems a criminal waste of time when they could be in school working on their Personal Statements (especially, for one of my two, who has to submit hers by October). Bloody lazy teachers!

Now, I'm on holiday and this shouldn't annoy me but **** off. We hate the work experience week. It cuts into planning an already packed timeline and has very little positive effect. It just looks good for some stat or other. At this time of the year it starts the "I'm on holiday" mindset too early and wrecks any meaningful learning left in the term.

In fact I have two today.
I need to travel to Chorley by train next Sunday. A quick look on the Northern Rail app shows that a ticket from Disley to Chorley costs £22. Fair enough, not too shocking.
However, it turns out it means a 20/30ish minute wait at Piccadilly to get the train to Oxford Road, then a 20/30ish minute wait at Oxford Road to get the train to Chorley. Those who know Manchester will know that it's about a three minute train ride or a 15min walk between those stations, so I thought sod it, I'll just walk and sit and have a coffee or something somewhere on the way.
So, I get a ticket from Disley to Piccadilly - £2.60.
And a ticket from Oxford Road to Chorley - about £6.
The maths whizzes will have spotted that the three minute Piccadilly to Oxford Road portion of my original trio was going to cost me fourteen quid. And we wonder why people think public transport is expensive...

Four pack of Corona Zero cost the same as the alcoholic version in my local supermarket. I get it in a pub - loads of fixed costs means the duty element is less of the overall price and more people drinking low alcohol. But supermarkets are just capitalising on this and once again profiteering.

They cause so much damage and litter, mainly because they are generally used by the kind of people who are unable to grasp the blindlingly obvious fact that they are a bad idea. And, what makes it even more galling, is that they are absolutely crap; no-one has ever cooked anything nice on one as the food is too close to the coals.
The best mackerel I ever had was cooked on one of those things. Sadly never been able to replicate it on any other barbecue

Its not the concept itself, in that disposable BBQ's are fine, very handy indeed, even though they burn everything. Its that people just leave them with no effort to at least put them out with a bottle of water

They're a godsend if you're a vegetarian being invited to a barbecue. Your porky mates can slavver over cow sandwiches and you're not stood there going "well... crisps then? Maybe a buttered roll? Ooh, is that salad?"
Most people can't cook on a barbecue, disposable or no. You've never had a burger bleeding inside and coal outside from a posh range? I don't believe you.

The biggest scandal is no shop ever puts Alcohol free lager in the chiller. It winds me up immensely. Would you like a room temperature AF lager now or put in the freezer, hopefully not forgetting it or a nice cold alcoholic lager for roughly the same price immediately?
My current peeve is the amount of unknown numbers calling me every day. I foolishly answered one a couple of weeks ago as I was expecting a call from someone whose number I didn't have saved. When I realised it was a scam caller I hung up but I am guessing that one answer moved me to a "call this person repeatedly" list. I simply decline all calls from unsaved numbers now but they keep on ringing.

Openreach. Was called yesterday evening to book an appointment to install new cable as I have swapped phone provider. Already have one booked. Unintelligible to me accent, would only repeat his script, didn't know what the engineers needed to access. Offered me two slots next Monday and if I didn't take one the whole job would be returned to the provider but no explanation of what that might mean offered despite requests. He put the phone down on me. Rang new provider and as I thought there is already an engineers appointment booked.

Oh and the rugby nations cup thing that's been on recently. How can it be a good thing that teams are traveling 27,000miles twice a year? I mean the blazers get a nice jolly but how on earth do skint unions pay for all this travel?
Unless a person has been living as a troglodyte or on the moon, it can't have passed them by, that our country is shirley about to be put into drought. Early evening our neighbours brought out their power washer. Then for at least half an hour force pure, precious clean water onto their paving to get rid of a few mossy bits. This was an assault on my ears (I was doing my accounts in the garden, rather than in an over heated attic workroom) and annoying that they think this is acceptable during these current weather conditions.

We binned off Sky for EETV 'Big Sport' which still has Sky Sports and by good fortune also TNT/HBO for all cycling now. Went from ~£150/month including phone, broadband etc. down to about £50 and saved the £30 TNT/HBO add-on too! Not sure if they to a EETV 'Big Drivel' to cater for Love Island etc. though.

Littering. I was in Prague last week and walking across the historic Charles Bridge (which has bins dotted along the entire length) and there was so much litter everywhere. They even had a guy with an industrial vacuum walking up and down it sucking up all the discarded bottles and food wrappers. Just why?

People that don't read threads, or just scan the first couple of posts, miss that the question has already been answered or clarified, and then jump in sometimes several hours or days later with an 'irrelevant because we've moved on' post.
Latest example - recommend me some parking. The whole OP is only two lines long and the second says "Thought the park and ride looks good but no overnight parking allowed" so it's hardly lost in the mass.

But then in the real world, the people that do the same thing at work, sometimes on an email chain but PARTICULARLY in a meeting. There's one in particular who is notorious for turning up 5-10 mins late and then either asking for a summary of the 10 minutes they missed, or doesn't ask for a summary but then comments or suggests stuff that has already been discussed or agreed. And then gets offended if someone says we already covered that "Oh, but I wasn't involved in that decision then" If they weren't senior I'd throw them out of the meeting, as it is hints don't seem to land.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me, especially if it's a senior manager who should be setting a better example.
We have a bin monitor in our close of 10 houses. Once the bin lorry has been round the guy moves the bins back to the right houses to keep the pavement clear. It's a helpful, neighbourly thing to do but for some reason really annoys me. If I'm working from home I will rush down to get my bin before he does.

I can understand if it’s a totally different make of phone on a different OS, but I upgrade my phone every year, and it’s never caused significant issues, the phone is regularly backed up to the cloud, so it’s literally just restoring from backup! I’m currently running a public beta of the next major OS update, and I’ve yet to have any problems with it.
I’ve yet to use the latest AI upgrade, but it seems to be functioning well, I just don’t have any real reasons to use it, although it may prove useful for careful photo editing of things like utility wires and cables cutting across skies and landscapes, which are a nightmare otherwise.
