As per the title really? Taking my 15 yr old to Vision Motorsport at the end of the month.
Can't wait tbh but I think he's slightly anxious. He has v limited experience of driving (obviously) : we've had a few sessions on private land and he's managing to pull away and get up to 3rd in his mums megane!

Any of you taken your kids? How did they get on? How competent where they before going?

I used to do these days for a company up north - if he can change gear, he won't be the worst one there! Several times, the parents had completely unrealistic ideas about what little johnny was capable of.

Sounds like your lad is in a good place to learn something from the experience, as well as getting a chance to drive like he wouldn't dare drive his mum's megane!

Rally days are a lot of cash for an experienced driver, let alone one who cant really drive...wouldnt you be better saving that type of present until hes older?

Wouldnt you be better spending the money on a skid pan training session? That way he will learn what happens to a car when it slides, and it will be useful for when he learns to drive.

I know when I first drove a rally car, (which was on an actual stage) I was really glad that I knew how to control slides in advance, rather than learning on the job...

I want to go one one of those days, but go-karts are so much fun for a fraction of the cost ๐Ÿ™‚

My advise would be to do it in a wide open space. I did it on a proper rally stage in an Impreza and to be honest there were very few sections I was prepared to put my foot down as I did fancy crashing some one elses car in to a tree 30cms from the car!

Odly though I've driven my car through part of a rally stage and that was great fun ๐Ÿ™‚

A friend is off traveling and has a Mk1 Escort Mexico that at some point has been a bit chaved up, and has a pretty ropey engine. Tempted to buy it and take it rallying......
