Please step forwards the Vauxhall Zafira handbrake lever (55 plate onwards). It resembles a clip together mystery object that tumbled out of the middle of a Kinder Egg, but is only half as sturdy.
Or the the handbrake in a toyota avensis - replaced with a button. Where shall we put the button? Under the dash, out of site somewhere half way down the driver's shin.
The flippin Microsoft Office ribbon!
The BT Vision remote control. Nothing is where it should be. The TV guide scroll function is laughable. And don't get me started on the nightmare that is the On Demand menu.
And +1 for the Range Rover Evoque. Gopping.
I think the cars are a ssangyong rhodius followed by a Pontiac Aztec.

Heh. In a similar vein, these two are fairly bad:

But for my money, and despite in every other sense it being a masterclass in doing design the right way, the FD Mazda RX7 has a fuel filler hole positioned in such a way that if you have a full tank and park facing uphill at an angle of more than 5°, the fuel tank empties itself via the filler hole.
My poxy iPhone.
The new met line trains.
That bloody shimano brake effort that also changed gears.
disc brakes with that crappy bit of metal wire in the middle
The re-design of the M40 and A43 junction would get my vote.
indeed a SsangYong Rodious. Often spelled "Odious".
of course, the Fiat Multipla also deserves a mention
LH side headlight bulb replacement in old Honda Civics. 👿
Coventry.
Suzuki indicator/washer stalks. Had mine 2 years and still wash the windscreen everytime I try to flash the headlights.
The small things are the worst - they would be so easy to fix:
The "auto" windscreen wiper function on BMWs resets when you turn the ignition off - therefore requiring you to turn-on the "auto" setting whenever it starts raining.... defeating the point?
Added to that, the tiny light indicating that the auto setting is on (located on the stalk) is perfectly obscured by the steering wheel - requiring you to press your face up against the side window/ceiling/windscreen in order to see it.
Women.
Get that 5 off this thread please.
I would like to nominiate the Citroen C4 Picasso. Gearstick too far away, and the heating controls are not in the middle of the car but by the driver's right knee. This means that a) you have to take your eyes a long way off the road to operate them, but worse b) the passenger can't reach them at all.
Samsung's Smart TV user interface, particularly the web bits.
Virgin media's TiVo remote.
Any cheapo kids bike.

In theory.
In practice no RX7 has ever had enough fuel in it for this to occur. 😆
If my friend attempted to use the grill on his old oven the heat would melt the knobs.
The replacement cured this by having an attachable heat shield to put in place, which meant you then had to leave the oven door open as you had a red hot bit of sheet metal poking out.
The spelling mistakes on the oven where a notable clue as to its quality.
Am also liking 'easy-open' Bravissimo products very much!
ISIS bottom brackets. Some of the newer PF30 and such may be up there as well.

Generally, I think that they got the packaging layout, design, and materials about right. 🙂
Its the software and/or programming that is faulty! 😉
The new Fox Dual control lockout, currently 2 weeks is par for the course, re threading the cable is not easy either.
Trek bikes, had the misfortune of doing a full service on a couple recently

Why can no-one design a bike light that doesn't switch in in your bag?
Ay-Up Battery mounted on lid with the light (still lighter than most)
Why woujld that not turn on in your bag?
Post colonial africa/middle east
There must be millions of these ****ers in service and every last one of them dribbles tea all over the table. I mean, why??
Ben Elton discussed this in detail in his "Ministry of Crap Design" Sketch. quite funny 🙂
Pandas...
Not the car
The stupid, big, hairy, black and white ones.
Why woujld that not turn on in your bag?
Because they don't have a switch, you have to plug the battery into the light.
That plastic packaging they insist on using for bags of pasta etc. It's so brittle it just splits all the way down when opened.
The Hindenburg.
The Titanic.
The Euro.
Doors that can only be pushed with pull handles on them
Yep, so simple to fix too.
Crank Bros headsets. The idea - bearings integrated into the cups is actually a pretty good one but the implementation - loose bearings with no sealing that you cant regrease because they are integrated into the cup, is crap.
Any Mini other than the "normal" mini. Its like the designers are having a competition with themselves to see just how ugly a car they can make that people will still buy.
Any iron where the cable tries to push it over when you stand it up.
Windows 8
My Harmony remote - great system. terrible button layout and feel.
The Titanic
The Titanic was actually quite a good design. It suffered massive damage yet it sunk slowly and just about upright.
The problem was that the owners, not the Naval Architects, reduced the number of lifeboats originally specced, to increase deck space for the passengers. Also, the lifeboats davits were of a new design which could lower fully laden lifeboats from the boat deck. However, it seemed the deck officers were not aware or did not trust them, as a lot of boats were lowered half empty.
If the ship had had the original number of boats, they had been fully laden and the evacuation had commenced when they first realised the extent of the damage, then very few people would of died and most would of been picked up the next morning. The Titanic would not of become the legend that it is now.
Just saying like.
Press fit bottom brackets.
And smells of poo from local sewage works^
The new Yahoo mail interface. Aaaaargh!!!
