Ouch.

A personโ€™s weight is their own business and only we can do anything about it, not them.

Huge moral dilemma ensues.

Daily Mail story: ergo it is NOT TRUE unless it can be backed up by something more credible.

Good work finding that, ideal Monday morning fodder.

The first thing I thought when I saw that was "I've seen fatter" actually I could probably walk into town right now and I'd see fatter kids which makes me think there must be more to it.

It's the Daily Heil.

Next week they'll be running a headline about how obese immigrants are negatively influencing house prices or something.

There's definitely more to this than meets the eye.

Even if it's not true... it should be.

Child abuse, plain and simple.

Critics called it a disgraceful breach of human rights and a chilling example of the power of the State to meddle in family life.

That is to say, unnamed, anonymous critics who I can't quote because I have just invented them.

Exactly. My head's an unnamed critic too.

I'm from Dundee, this is old news. The fact of it is that the kids are being removed because of poor parenting skills/neglect. Their older kids have spent time in care because of the same.

I wonder if they have properly considered wiring their jaws up ? The Daily Mail journalists, that is.. I guess you would need to cut their hand off too, to be sure.

Watched something about fat teens with my (very skinny) kid last night (he was fascinated and wouldn't let me turn over) - 13 and 14 year old (American) kids having a gastric bypass and another op to effectively remove half the stomach. Incredible.
Anyone know how their energy levels are when they can't eat properly? This wasn't mentioned - on of the girls was 19 stone at 13 and actually played volleyball. She seems to get a lot of enjoyment out of it, so I wondered if she'd still be able to play when she was no longer a hippo.

The obesity is probably the only visible evidence of poor parenting. There'll be more to this than shopping at Iceland.

I wouldn't worry about it. They'll all be dead soon anyway. They probably smoke too. And drink strong cider. And take drugs. And, being Scottish, exist on a diet consisting entirely of deep-fried mars bars washed down with Irn Bru and Bucky

I'm surprised we haven't had the usual rant for NHS treatment to be rationed to these sections of society. Why should my taxes pay for porkers/smokers/alcies etc etc, and so on and so forth.

I know its Monday morning and everything, but I think a few people on here need to buck there ideas up a bit

Between you and me, I'm positive this is entirely the fault of the NHS.

** Ideas bucked up nicely **

EDIT: I also blame Alex Salmond, Mel Gibson and Hearts of Midlothian FC.

Whilst the story may be 'sensationalised' the issue is a serious one. I hate that the Uk's caught some of the American 'I'm big and beautiful and the fact I can't walk without my knees doing hop scotch is ok' ness. Some big people have medical issues, some are just seriously uneducated and it is terrible parenting. Fast food is the fifth horseman of the apocolypse. Subway excepted cos I like their Italian bread.

Look, we all know the solution to this family's dilemma is a harem of Commencal Metas and a bucketful of motivation. Problem is we're way too smug to write that down in a public forum. Dammit!

Oh D-S, Those slimming wafers look like they would go really well with a buttered fried egg.

If social workers were out incarcerating kids for being fat, there'd be twenty cases on every street.
