[#6095130]

I've had coffee at Birches valley cafe for several years now and practically every time I've ordered a cappuccino, I've been disappointed.
Yesterday I finally broke down when I was passed one that resembled hot milk. I handed it back and said that I'd ordered a cappuccino. The girl said she'd make it again and did. The next was even worse! She basically boiled the already heated milk with the steam in an failed attempt to create some foam.
At £2.20 a pop I was getting a bit pissed off. I asked if she new the difference between a Capp and a latte. She said she did so I asked her again if she'd make it correctly.
Finally, the chap who appears to be in charge came over and made it for her.
1/3 espresso, 1/3 milk, 1/3 foam. Bang on!
Now, was I out of order? Because my thinking is that if you are working as a barista, you should damn well be able to make a decent drink.

Don't worry, you're not a coffee snob; you drink cappuccino.

You could have mebbies helped her; 'I normally have 1/3, 1/3, 1/3'or some such. The way you've written it up, sounds like you were arsey which may have been your privilege but won't necessarily get you a decent cappa from a Saturday girl in a cafe.

The clue is in the word 'snob'.
When did it become something to be proud of?

I've found some of these new places pretty rubbish to be honest.
The last place I tried had some Scroobius Pip lookalike serving, who just looked blankly at me when I asked if they serve mellow birds.

Maybe she hadn't been taught by her boss? If you spoke to her in the way that you've implied in the OP then you'd definitely have come across as a condesending 'snob'.

Why ruin coffee by putting milk in it.? Milk is for a mug of tea not for coffee.

I have the same problem op. I'm a proper real ale aficionado and can I get a decent shandy anywhere!

Milk is for a mug of tea not for coffee.

Milk is for small cows

The drink you were served (at a very reasonable price) was not to your taste. The way you responded like a petulant child and were rude to a young girl is totally out of order. So yes "unreasonable" to describe your behaviour is the right word.

That's pretty dumb when you think about it.

Cappuccino is fine, as long as it's drunk at the correct time of day. Lots of wannabe coffee snobs here I see. 😉

Well, your op states you believe your actions were reasonable. 🙂
And you admit to being a snob in the title.

If you're not proud of it, you've got a funny way of showing it.

Or is this a cry for help? 😉

Andyrm. Do you consistently get crap service and put up with it? I asked twice politely. At want point do you think it reasonable to expect to get the product you asked for or should I MTFU and drink black coffee like all the NON coffee snobs here? Why should the price you pay for something dictate whether it's actually what you get in return?
I'll take your insult on the chin though because you are entitled to your opinion even it is unreasonable and stupid.
No offence mate of course.. 😆

If only you had gone to Starbucks. You could have referred her to the corporate training manual.

I'd go along with that. Might be just how it's written, but it does sound like snob has a superfluous S on it.

You are not a coffee snob.
Did you ask what the TDS levels of their water were and if they were going to be getting an EK43 in now they are all the rage? Do you have a hangover from the coffee festival after party after party (where you were on the free booze list) No, so shut up and go back to your frothy provincial cappuchino.

🙄

[serious] depends on how busy it was and if there was a queue behind you, if you have been going in there a long time then I would have asked the better barista to make my coffee and if they ask why there's an opportunity to tell them, then the lead has come from them not you. Life is too short for crap coffee or anything else for that matter. [/serious]

Gears Suck, from what you wrote you come across as a bit of a drama queen. You could have advised her on how to make it they way you like it. She may have remembered you next time and made your next coffee to your liking. Now she will defiantly remember you as you'll have your own special cup washed in the toilet bowl and your coffee will be almost right as I'm sure a big greeny suspending in the milk foam isn't part of the perfect cappuccino.
Enjoy your next coffee there, I'm sure your petty victory was worth it.

Double espresso coming up to shift the hangover. I don't own any brown trousers or skinny jeans.
