Finally, an answer for all those carnivores who have to troll every 'vegetarian' thread going!

https://uk.deliciou.com/collections/all-products/products/bacon-seasoning-variety-pack

Vegan, gluten free, Kosher, make anything you like taste of bacon!

Winner on "Shark Tank" apparently, no idea what that is but I'm assuming it's an overseas equivalent of Dragon's Den.

Why would you want an honest vegetable to taste of dead pig flesh?

What kind of monster are you?

Or, you could just eat some of the magic animal.

You could also sprinkle it on chicken and it would become bacon substitute, or dip some butter or lard in it and it would taste like bacon fat.

Have these saps never heard of Frazzles? Bacon-free bacon is not exactly a novelty.

Am I the only one wondering what would happen if you sprinkled some of this on some bacon?

It turns into a vegetable.

But that’s for a party pack. Now you have to calculate just how many pounds of potatoes, carrots, old socks and cabbage you can Make Taste Just Like Bacon with that. Weigh it and then add the cost of raw ingredients.

Well, I wouldn't. I think bacon smells revolting and Frazzles taste like scrapings from Beelzebub's scrotum. But based on the inevitability of comments from others it'd appear I'm in the minority so I was posting as a selfless PSA.

Yeah, as p7 said that's for the selection box. You can buy individual jars. They do less bacony ones too. There's a nacho cheese one also (though whose cheese it is then remains unclear).

The very existence of this product proves this.

You don't get sprout powder for sprinkling on meat to make it taste more sprouty, do ya?

unpopular opinion, but bacon doesn't improve everyhting
I would go as far to say bacon improves nothing.

(caveat: not a vegetarian, just not a bacon fan)

It certainly perks up a buttered roll with brown sauce.

Wrong! It definitely improves bread and butter.

Only because bacon on its own is enough, anything else is just diluting the baconess*.

* Exception being pieces of white, unbuttered, unsauced bread that enable you to hold the bacon without burning your fingers.

Be careful how you apply that lest you end up with a lardon mid ride

Dunno. You know when bacon gets a bit old (not old old, just old). Sometimes it smells a bit like sweaty toe cheese when you cook it. Still tastes good though.

I remember buying white cheddar Kernal’s seasoning years ago and they do a bacon flavour one. Though fairly sure that it isn’t vegan as I seem to remember it ‘contains real cheese flavouring’ or something like that.   https://kernelseasons.com

Disgusting idea.

Do any veggies really miss bacon so much that they'd resort to something as pathetic as this?

(Former veggie of 10 years here, quite like bacon now but never hankered for it)

i see your bacon flavour and bring you .....

this improves everything - and who knew that was a thing when it came to bbqing meat ..... no actual bacon was wasted on it either.

i see no reason why it couldnt bring veg into the picture.

Shark Tank is indeed an American version of Dragon’s Den, therefore this tastes like American bacon. It’s not bacon then.

Back to bacon it is.

Slightly dramatic.

Ha, I was holding back a bit.

Vegetables taste amazing and there are loads of awesome natural spices and herbs available for a few quid.

What kind of idiot would spend £25 on bacon spray?

As all the meat-eaters seem happy caricature themselves as basic-bro and shout "but bacon" I'll answer on behalf of the vegetable botherers.

Nope. Two months in and I don't wander around smelling steak, bacon, KFC or anything else and really wanting it.

Do you wander around all-day regretting having chicken last night and missing out* on seitan?

*no one misses seitan, although I've realized that at least cumulatively there are at least enough varieties of 'meat/protein substitutes' that if you can't bring yourself to eat pulses or need to eat a meal that resembles "meat and two veg" then there are enough options that you couldn't get bored any easier than you'd get bored eating steak for every meal.

In my youth I regularly used to have kebab for "dinner" and spend the next day wishing I'd had something not as "generic meat" instead. Does that count?

I am an omnivore and happily eat meat but have noticed that I would prefer to eat a meal of vegetables without meat to one of meat without vegetables.

A plate with just a perfectly cooked sirloin steak is lovely but so much better with some mushrooms, asparagus etc. On it's own meat is a bit monotonous.

When given vegetarian meals I do miss the meat but there seems a greater variety of tastes and textures to keep the interest.

I guess it is partly because we tend to cook either a single piece of meat and in a single style whereas there are normally many different vegetables.

Largely a practical thing. A proper* bbq or the like with lots of variety I'll happily munch nothing but pig, let alone meat, on the other hand you'd not catch me cooking 12 different cuts and styles for dinner on a dreary Wednesday evening but I'd happily do 12 different veg on that same evening. The prep time (and volume) involved in cooking that much meat makes it largely impractical outside big gatherings.

*no, much as its a perfectly reasonable (nice even) meal a charred sausage and a burger doesn't count.

I remember our local kebab shop used to do chicken, lamb or meat kebabs. I think meat was probably goat but it was never specified

Plenty of self-righteousness/put-downs on this thread. It’s a winner!

So I’m getting a jar for Xmas. Shall do a review.

Planning on carrot-rashers first.

^^^in honesty if it tastes anything like I can imagine it being great for things you'd cook with bacon but for one reason or another don't want to (usually due to being to lazy to remove the rind so it goes slimy and squidgy yet inedibly tough.) Beef bourginon, macaroni cheese, that sort of thing.

My favourite food* is pasta Amatriciana. The bacon (or pig cheek for authenticity) is not 'diluted', it is part of a beautiful balance of flavours and textures. I'm hungry now.

*Except for maybe a Thai dish "Hoi Lai". It's worth living in Thailand just to have this available.
