My gamertag is funkyhooda just realised I didn't put that in before incase someone wants it
The 'chat' headset is just that, there's a control block on the end for volume / mute mic. Most (all?) other headsets that use the 3.5mm jack route game sounds through them too, though there's a mixer control where you can change the balance of game / voice.
The official one is cheap and cheerful, but it does the job if all you want is voice comms.
