@danposs86 - very similar to me. I must have spent 10 minutes staring at it trying to work out ANY words that would fit after I'd got to the point of the two greens!

I like this, can see it becoming a daily thing!

I do it every morning while drinking my morning brew, really helps kickstart the old grey matter and give s me time to think the puzzle through.

Agreed, got there in 5 but having got the first 4 getting the fifth one right within 6 just came down to luck.

Failed two days on the run so pretty pleased to get today quite quick.

Tried this harder version yesterday, there's a long explanation around what makes it different, but I couldn't get my head around it.

Worth a look if you're desperate for another fix

Absurdle

That absurdle is quite nice.

My understanding is that absurdle does not select a word at the beginning, but instead prunes the list with each of your guesses until only one word remains (kind of like highlander;-).

So the challenge isn't to "guess" the word, it's to prune the list to only a single word in the minimum number of steps.

My best so far is 11.

Scratch that, got to an answer in 8.

I got today's Wordle (14 Jan) on second attempt! Well chuffed with that.

I wonder if anybody has entered the answer as their first word...

question:
If you used the Miketually method ROUTE followed by SNAIL, if you got an amber on the first would you still go for the second regardless?

I find it useful to rule out/in some more letters so almost always use SNAIL second. I might not if I got a green.

I started with SCOPE. Nil.

Then, for some reason, chose THIS.... click for the grande reveal!

I always use ALIEN and then YOUTH to start.

Identifies all possible vowel sounds in two goes.

I start with IDEAL and decide the second word based on the response to the first. I think you are better to work on consonants with the second rather than persisting with vowels if you hit a vowel in the first. I tend to use words like TRAIN as the second, depending on the results of the first (TRAIN is good if you get a yellow I and A, for example). Sticking with the same two starting words is mostly just wasting opportunities to get information.

I quite like starting with GREAT or ABOUT, they use lots of commonly occurring letters and I do like to narrow down the vowels as soon as possible. I think a lot is luck (sorry) I have scored two a couple of times (have been doing it for about 10 days) I am usually 4/5 and got a 6 this morning. I think I perform better when I do not over think it!

I use Stare as that's 5 of the 8 most commonly used letters, then go from there.

Nil points for red thunder - you need a word with five letters, and it needs to be in the dictionary.

@thols2 are you in a different time zone as you seem to get the next word before we do in the uk.

@sobriety thanks for that simple explanation, makes perfect sense now. I somehow managed to read the provided explanation on absurdle without understanding or taking any of it in whatsoever!

Tried Absurdle twice, got in in 6 both times. In 22 attempts at Wordle I've got it in...

1 never
2 4 times
3 9 times
4 4 times
5 3 times
6 2 times

Thing with Absudle is that, if you just enter the same word at each stage, you'll end up with the same final word. I've managed it in five words twice (using different starting words). My guess is that it's probably not possible to solve in less than four, but if you find the optimum sequence of words, you'll be able to solve it in the minimum every time. I think it would be more interesting if it started you with a randomly selected word for the first word.

I'm learning to make words with the letters I haven't used for the first 3 guessed to get the letters as fast as possible. Mostly get it on the 4th try unless it's pretty obvious early on. Definitely wakes the old grey matter up every morning, maybe I'd do better if I did them later in the day but I don't care!

I can't really see the merit of leaving out the letter you got right in the first go.

Wordle 210 2/6

⬜🟨🟩⬜⬜
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Spoiler

i know i said im going to start with STARE every time but thought id live life on the edge and choose a different word that still had 2 vowels and 3 consonants. go me!
Chose BINGE for some reason, no idea why that came into my head.

so.....N in the right place, I in the wrong place, hardly earth shattering. decided that the 'I' would almost certainly have to come after N now, so __NI_
PANIC was the first word that came to me after looking at possible endings.

the sight of 5 greens coming up on the second go was better than an orgasm at this time of the morning!!
