When you get into the cat sat mat position what do you do? I suppose that means, how do you play this game? Is your aim least guesses, or as i do (because I want an agile, fast thinking brain not one that sits and analyses options for ever) to get it as fast as I can even if it burns a guess. So in that case I go quickly for a word that has the three possible options of c,s, and m in it, which then tells me what the word is next guess.

Usually just burn a guess to eliminate as many possibilities as I can, same as you. I look upon it as a moral victory, rather than getting pulled into endlessly spunking guesses.

With today's word, the fact I had the final 4 letters was just a case of working through the alphabet and thankfully there weren't many possibilities. I did run out of guesses on one word not that long ago which, when I actually checked it properly had about 7 possibilities for the first letter.

Usually my "burner" guesses are the first three by which time it's pretty obvious. Today I had the final 4 letters within 2 guesses.

That's not possible in hard mode. It's the best strategy in regular mode.
