If they work as well as these:

then yes - but I like the Ecofan styling more. Looks less complicated too.
Different power principle innit?
I have no problems at all with mine heating the whole house and I have no fan. It has started coughing smoke a little though so builder is back tomorrow to fit a cowl.

Blows the hot air a bit though dunt it?
Yeay stirling engines (I'm designing and building a significantly more powerful one as we speak!). It'll work, it might be a bit temperamental if it's anything like mine. But its a low temp difference engine, it basically "just works" providing the top of your stove is hot enough. Can't say I've ever found a stove that couldn't heat the room perfectly easily without it though.
It works on the principal of shuttling heat from the hot end to the cold end, the bigger the temp difference the faster it turns.

The room is 10 by 5m, with the stove about 2m in from one end as a result of knocking 2 rooms into 1. The 8kw is hot enough, but I think a fan to distribute the hot air a bit better may help. I've seen them advertised at canal boat chandlers - same sort of issue I suppose.
£100+ sounds a bit steep for one though. Are there any expensive bits in them?
saw an ecofan in operation in a stove showroom the other day. Bloody fantastic. Ill be having one on my stoves when Ive fitted them (15x5m room)
We have one.
We use it to blow heat in the direction of the bedrooms in our bungalow.
I was sceptical when Mrs Stratobiker bought one, but it works great.
