My wife is fed up with being cold and needs a down jacket, so what would you recommend?

Alpkit for great vfm and great product. Rab if you want to spend a few more pennies on something that's been finished off a bit nicer.

Mrs Markie loves her Montane Anti-Freeze. Great fit, awesome customer service and the jacket does fantastically in every head to head (and other) review I was able to find online.

Strongly recommended.

review that compare it to a load of other jackets on the market[/url] and show that it rocks....

Not ever having had a down jacket before, how are they if you get caught out in the rain. I realise they are not completely waterproof but I assume it won't be ruined if it does get a soaking?

If it gets soaked then letting it dry thoroughly then fluffing it up when dry, or if you've got a tumble dryer stick it in with some tennis balls should do the trick.

Sara has a Mountain equipment one. It's hard to get her out of it this time of year. LOL

GF has the rab microlight and loves it. She gets cold really easily.

Orangina has a Rab and if it is anything like the other one she has which has lasted 25 years and still going though a bit grubby, its a good investment.

Its a pertex shell Rab Nutrino so it should be a bit showerproof....
