I've hard wired mine into the network using powerplugs, I wouldn't try wireless.
I'm just about to try streaming a 720 film off my NAS and I'll get back to you...

ok thanks. the modern world of media is very frustrating and confusing! i used to have my computer in the same room as my tv/amp etc. so it was plugged directly in via toslink and hdmi leads. now we've moved they're in different rooms. all i want is a way to effectively stream my music and video from computer to tv/amp system over the wireless. it is very hard to identify what will actually do that!

actually, now you mention it powerplugs might be the way to go, combined with apple tv. which do you use, out of interest?

Solway..... but I think they're much the same. 720 stream off my NAS started to buffer every few mins which is no good.
I've read that there are solutions to this (configuring the ATV to connect via ftp being one of them) and I haven't got time to look into them at the moment. My version of XMBC is also pretty old which could be the problem.
Anyway I simply transfer video to the ATV using SFTP and play it directly from there which is flawless.

one last thing - does the media have to be on the ATV for XBMC to work, or will it recognise my PC media folders and play from there (assuming it's hardwired)?

Did any of you order a box blemished Duet and actually get it ?

They ran out of stock before mine was dispatched and could not tell me if they would have any more 🙁

They did however give me a voucher for 35% off any other product for my trouble so I ordered a Squeezebox touch instead. So hopefully that should be here later in the week.

i ordered one and then cancelled it on the basis of the above. they still sent me a free set of headphones, though. 🙂

Yes I got the pair of headphone too.

They don't sound too bad apart from the noise transmitted up by the cord.

Just used them while running.

Will I ordered a squeezebox radio (ebay) and a duet/controller. Former is good, just about loud enough and quality ain't bad. Great to use and set up.

Logitech sent me the earphones only too and I'm chasing their support dept re. "where is my duet?" so I suspect I'll be told it's not coming shortly 🙁

Well I was told my duet wasn't coming so I won one on scumbay, and was then told there'd been shome mishtake and my duet & controoler were in fact being delivered.

So I now have 2 duets and one controller coming...does anyone wants?

Why not just send one of the Duets back? Doubt you would make you money back selling them on here.

Incidentally, I will have 2 new Squeezebox Touches I will be shifting soon, if anyone wants one 😉

I can't send the ebay one back, I could send the logitech one back but it's the only 1 of the 2 that has the controller and it seems you need that to set up the duet.

I can always shift them on ebay I suppose...

I can't send the ebay one back,

Is it secondhand then? I assumed long distance regulations applied to eBay?

It's unused from a private seller...and I've taken it out the box anyway.

I thought DSR applied to business - consumer transactions only?

It does, I was working on the assumption you had bought from a dealer.

So, as usual, disregard everything I said.
