Yeah I knew what you were getting at 😀

We struggled last week at fly half, Olding was making his debut and tbh was a bit out of his depth, his time will come though.

So tomorrows massive relegation battle sees Danny go head to head with Gav. Massive call from the Lip to start Gav at ten after just two sub appearences since his latest injury. Must win game for both teams.

It's games like this that lead me to call for Care at 9 for England. He's been excellent.

What a try from Care!

He's just made Tait look like he has all the mobility of a pre pro era front rower!

Finally got S4C working on the phone 😀

Scarlets are leading Munster 15-3 at the moment. Samson Lee (of rough buggers for a no nonsense mid week Lions team fame in earlier posts) is on so I look forward to some "niggle" 😀

The new young 10 is looking good again this week while ROG is bandaged like a mummy!

Given the fact that the bulk of the Glasgow squad are on Scotland duty it really shows the depth that we now have. Very very happy right now
POSTED 1 DAY AGO # REPORT-POST

Bruce how much of the excellent form do you think is down to Townsend as coach? I for one was surprised when Lineen got shifted out the way but Toonie seems to be doing very well...

Good question. I have no idea 🙂

I have to hold up my hand and say that I was absolutely spitting nails when Lineen was ousted, especially at the way it was done. I was royally pissed off because the attack coach from a national team that had scored 2 tries in 6 games had just been parachuted into the top job at my team seemingly for the sole reason that he was chummy with the old boy network at Murrayfield. The pre-season games didn't do much to make me feel better.

But then things improved and continue to improve. I don't think it was one factor but maybe a combination of things like a generation of young players such as Hogg, Murchie, and Harley coming on the scene, the 'new coach syndrome' that always seems to lift the performance of a team at least in the short term, and some clever foreign signings like Matawalu, Straus, and Maitland. Also, I think he was inheriting a team that had very good foundations thanks to Lineen.

Or maybe it's all just been blind luck and we're about to come crashing down. This being a Scottish team I'm definitely not discounting that possibility.

Why was Townsend seemingly so ineffective for Scotland and so effective for Glasgow? Maybe he was stifled under Robinson or maybe he just got really lucky at Glasgow. I now think that he is a good coach and I'm hoping for big things.

Or maybe it's all just been blind luck and we're about to come crashing down. This being a Scottish team I'm definitely not discounting that possibility.

Can't wait for Ulster v Glasgow on Friday 🙂

Obviously didn't do enough then.

Sale were (almost) the architects of their own destruction yet again, giving away silly penalties, without those gifts LW would have been way down.

Well Sale scored more tries yet gave away more penalties, so what does that tell you?
Both teams are dire but Sale finally seem to have found the in goal area.

EDIT:
LW six penalty scores to Sale's four, Cipriani landed six kicks to Henson's 3.
If Sale weren't so suicidal with giving away penalties all over the pitch they might actually stay up.

Cipriani got more kicks so must be a better player!!!

Did i say that?
I actually stated that Sale almost threw the game away by giving away silly penalties.
For what it's worth i think Cipriani has been a liability for Sale this year.
The points scored tell the tale, Sale outscored LW 2 tries to one but almost lost the game due to their suicidal tendencies.

I actually think there are fairly close comparisons to be made between Henson and Cipriani;both players who could turn a game, but I think they will both be looking back with regret in a few years. Bearing in mind Henson is a Grand Slam winning Lion, that shows how good he could have been for the last decade.

The fact that he was man of the match in his first start since november and about his tenth game in the last 29 years tells you all you need to know about his talent and how we havent seen enough of it.

I would agree. He is/was a prodigious talent. A talent which sadly say the most important years wasted in a maelstrom of "celebrity", fake tans and generally being a weapons grade bell end. If he had stuck at the game? Who knows, but I can happily agree that he is/was a superbly talented and gifted rugby player.

a_a I don't think that anyone needs telling of the orange ones obvious rugby talents, just like you don't need telling what a complete knob he is.

I've never met him so wouldnt presume to say if he is a knob or otherwise. He does bring out the knob in many people though.

Err,that is exactly what I was saying....

Oh and why I don't have an opinion about his knobbery one way or another, his behaviour towards other rail/plane users when exposed to drink would make it easy to suggest that he has a slim defence to the casual observer.
