So we before covid booked a 10 person holiday lodge in December in the lakes and that’s just been cancelled....possibly because it’s 10 people or it’s mixing households.

My missus is NHS so we’re doing everything by the book and even for the prices wouldn’t entertain going abroad.

It’s so hard to even plan anything at the moment, you don’t know what will happen, does everyone else feel the same?

Seem to think the best is just to go away just the two of us and try get some UK Mtb in...

I spent £90 on a heater for my campervan. My girlfriend and I are going to go out into the middle of nowhere for Hogmanay and have some hot chocolate.
What else can you do?

Yes.
I wouldn't plan to go away, even just two now.

TBH I am just waiting for our great leader to basically be forced to call a national lockdown coinciding with half-term.

So if you're plan is to get away last week in October/first week in November_ish, I'd expect for it to be scuppered.

The truth is Very few of us can plan at present, my advice would be to take a good look at what you can do within your local area on day trips, or simply from your door step. "Planning" is now simply having a mental list of local options on standby for any spare days you might have...

Very much agree with this. We had a week off last month where we had a list of options - found a neat site for walk ideas (alltrails.com) and did a few of those. I guess it depends on your attitude to risk but if you book anything I'd be prepared for it to be cancelled.

Book a holiday that you can cancel free if cOvid rules stop you going. Like a holiday lottery. My worry is that the guy I sit next to at work tests positive next week and I loose my half term break

Had 10 days on the south coast booked at Easter, cancelled. Had a baby arrive in June so didn't feel able to get away in the summer but wife and I thought we'd manage by half term (2 older ones too) so rebooked for the South coast..... Very nervous.
