I equipped my parents with a mac mini a year or so ago but they're not happy with it and want to return to Windows. I know I could run win7 on bootcamp bDut it would boot into OSX by default and, frankly, it's a waste.
I'm reckoning on a mac mini equivalent - a net top - but know nothing about current processors.

They've got a decent 20" monitor - I notice some of these only have HDMI output which might be a problem (does HDMI support all resolutions when converted to DVI?)

Build your own using Zotac mini-itx Z68 mobo but do check the version as there are several versions of that same mobo.
Something off the shelf preferred - Performance isn't important.
In that case one of the ASUS nettops with Intel chip should do. 🙂
