Sad day for literature especially in Scotland as a big talent passes on.

Was sad when I found out. Brilliant writer, Docherty had a big impact on me as a teenager.

Re-read Laidlaw a couple of weeks ago. Still brilliant. A sad loss.

I've actually never read any of his but a lot of authors I like quote him as an influence; where would be a good place to start?

Docherty would be a really good start Northwind, it is like an industrial Sunset Song.

Docherty is probably the best to start with but also consider The Big Man.
