Anyone got any ideas how to get started? She can sail stupidly well so knows the wind side of things, just need to know a reasonably cheap way into the sport.
probably not a lot of help
but I seem to remember some bloke converting kite buggies and using a windsurfer mast/boom/sail and uj(welded)
this means you can get all the kit in a car easily.
according to BBC this morning it £1500 for an entry level set up
and i think they mention a race at preston this weekend if thats near you
Plum
It was pretty cheap when we looked into it. There's a club on Brean Sands near Bristol if you are down south. They were happy to let us have a go with their kit for a couple of sessions to see if we liked it for a nominal fee, that was a while ago, though, and involved a lot of sitting around while it was too wet/too windy/not windy enough/etc...

Saw some lads on these up at Beadnell last year. Looked awesome!
Yer bang on Good on her!!!
I use to do Land boarding down the hills at Greenwich
Plumber I thought they said Weston (supernightmare) but I was still half asleep.
There's a section of beach at Weston-Super-Mare just past the West Beach carpark that is specifically closed off for kite buggies and land yachts. I've seen land yachts at Brean/Burnham in the past, but it was a long time ago, don't know if it still goes on there.
I think they were giving free lessons at Weston. Not sure as i didnt really listen to the news this morning.
CountZero - thats what my new sport is going to be.
you have a cool wife....
I know.
She once hitched from jo'burg to london and has been deported from brazil after having sailed across the atlantic.
SBZ, that was taken at the West Beach end at Weston, Brean Down in the background. I'm more than a little envious, I've watched the buggies down there a number of times, and it looks like so much fun, I just don't have the money, sadly.
