Im not far from there and dont think school lane has any ex LA property mostly big detached with a few 1970s developer semis. We looked there but ended up in Sandal. Its a good place to be, into city if necessary* dead quick, countryside is open and mostly 'clean and tidy' it might have been said offroad is a bit meh! same old same old routes, railway and TPT stuff. Using road bikes more now out to emley and windmills in sunshine yesterday 8) . No idea on current house values average?
* can usually find reason not to go it is sh!t. but i dont like city centres anywhere.

Wakefield is into red brick country, horrid building material and prices to match I expect. I was born in Wakey and lived in Ackworth in my early childhood. I always hate going back, the predominant red brick houses are just depressing and ugly. There are some nice bits, but you're always only just a few miles or metres away from ugly depressing red brick streets and structures. I've live near Baildon most of my childhood and adult life btw, don't do it.

@bernard and @jag61
Where abouts around Wakefield do you tend to ride?
(I'm hoping I have missed something!)

We currently live in Baildon

I read that as Basildon. I thought that's a hell of a commute.

One of the major reasons we'd like to move out of Baildon is the traffic congestion where Baildon road and Otley road intersect and also I must pass through Bradford's city center or driver along canal road in order to reach M62. In average, if i plan to use M62,i would say i have to deduct around 30-40 minutes from the time spent along the whole journey.

BTW,I met a parade on the way to M62 through Bradford last week,full of Indian or ****stan,blocking the traffic for around 30 minutes...it is a nightmare!

Do loads of Indian and ****stan live around the rural area of Wakefield ?

Bernard / mark - see http://badbrainsmbc.com/ for regular night rides. There's a BB few lurkers on STW.

Kiki - there's two mainly Asian areas Agbrigg and just outside the town centre. As for local authority housing there's loads everywhere around the city but two small estates in Walton and Portobello is just before you get to Sandal going out on the A61.

Kikigood - I live in Baildon, grew up & school in Wakey. I commute to Darton. I would not swap Baildon for anywhere, especially not in ye merrie towne. You might one day change jobs where you need to get to the north of Leeds/Bradford.

tbh the M62 is waaaay better now than it was say 2 years ago

The parade through Bradford was Vaisakhi, the Sikh holiday. Not a regular occurrence

We viewed several nice houses in Crigglestone. Is Crigglestone considered as the good area comparing with Sandal&Walton ?

No it's not. Nothing that much wrong with it but nothing special plus look at google maps - a lot of it is pretty close to the M1 and the noise carries.
