If I'd known I was arguing with a woman I'd have used smaller words

Yes, yours were huge, massive, honestly they were the biggest i've ever seen! I'm surprised you managed to fit them in, and they were so beautiful and long. They were amaaaaazing! Don't ever stop using them with me, etc. etc.

All i know is that they are a touchy lot

Aparently, they are not angry, they are just very easy to irratate

been arguing with an atheist today - you can't win

the way i look at it, either you are a beleiver or you are not a beleiver

if you are not a beleiver, then don't worry about - find something else to get angry about

i couldn't give a rats arse, unless someone starts sprouting rubbish at me, then they can f*ck right off

see, even an agnostic like me can get angry!!

I don't like the new BBC website layout. Only just got used to the last one. Why they keep changing it so often?

The thread is dead, Fred. No one was able to show a link between the catholic church and Aids in Africa, or anywhere else. The irony being that those who insisted on that connection, did so without any proof, basing their ideas on belief. Yet mocked others for their belief in a God without proof.

So, ultimately, it's over and I won.

Thanks for playing.

For negative values of 'won'.

No, that's the Old Testament God you're thinking of. The New Testament God is far less destructive, unless you count earthquakes and famine and stuff

You appear to have completely missed the point of this thread. Which is a shame as you'll have to go right back to the beginning and start all over again.

You appear to think this thread had a point, you need to read the posts randomly and see if the arguments make more sense that way.

dogmatix: I don't think anyone on the thread has argued otherwise.

The trouble arises because "private beliefs" (on both sides) often spill out into public areas like laws, education and justice.

is it not more because one lot are wrong and they then use this values system to impose values on the others

Atheism isn't a belief, it's knowledge

Surely there must be somebody in 800 posts? Somebody go and have a check.

Actually, I don't think that even Richard Dawkins would agree with you on that, Mr Mungus.

But whatever.

So, you're saying Atheism is just a belief.

No. I'm saying that by any definition of knowledge, neither theism nor atheism count as such.

As any good epistemologist would say.
