i had to google who the hell jack reacher was 😕

Reacher is 6' 5" tall (1.96m) with a 50-inch chest, and weighing between 210 and 250 pounds (100–115 kg). He has ice-blue eyes and dirty blond hair. He has very little body fat, and his muscular physique is completely natural (he reveals in Persuader, he has never been an exercise enthusiast). He is exceptionally strong but is not a good runner.[4] Reacher's strength is combined with his savant intellect and military training, analyzing his environment and opponents at extremely high processing speeds.

Yeah that's cruise alright......I saw the trailer in the pictures but couldn't really take cruise seriously in this kind of role.

I certainly think that while the height is important, so is the "bulk" - Jack Reacher is basically everything that Tom Cruise is NOT. So disappointed in this casting choice, Danny de Vito would have been just as plausible !

Liam Neeson obviously.

Karl Urban? I know he's done Judge Dredd and Dr McCoy recently,but not alot of acting's required. Perhaps Eric Bana with hair? Not a Star Trek fan here, no sir, certainly not......

cannot watch the film as it will ruin my imagined appearance of Reacher from the books...

My Mrs is appalled by the choice of Tiny Tom and hasn't stopped going on about it 🙄 "HE'S SO NOT Jack Reacher"
She reckons that Jason Isaacs would do the trick.

Having read all the Reacher books* I could have topped meself when I head The Short One was set to play him.
Can only presume he has a production company, wot bought the rights, and he had to put himself front & centre...
FWIW I'm cannot come up with any name for who should play him.

*They are all cut from the same block, as are many - but, have to say, FWIW, I thought the most recent, Wanted Man, was the weakest I've read...

I reckon the guy who plays Christopher Chance in Human Target would fit the bill. Mark Valley: Big lad, blue eyed, blonde hair.

My first choice would be Max Martini from The Unit & Revenge (along with other shows). I agree Mark Valley also looks like Reacher with the "ice blue eyes".
I had a thought recently maybe one of the Hemsworth boys and one of the others could play his brother when he comes into it.
I would have even preferred Russell Crowe to Tom Cruise!

Unfortunately, although I think Liam Neeson is a great actor he too isn't Reacher - tho a better choice than Tom. I have been waiting for these books to be made into film and when it happens I can't go and see them 🙁

Can't believe we are on page two and nobody has mentioned Chuck Norris. On second thoughts scratch that, he's far to hard to play Reacher.
