Pook took me to a pub in Sheffield that had pork pies in a basket on the counter. I will go back there and try one...

It appears that spending time on here, albeit purposefully in the abuse of hora, has begun to leach Northerness from your very soul.

1. The only acceptable foodstuff served in a pub should come in a crinkly packet; Crisps, peanuts, scampi fries and so on.
2. The concept of a 'restaurant' serving a pie is not one I am prepared to subscribe to.

The natural habitat of the pie is the chippy, the perfect location for consumption of said pie is a bus stop. That's why they have seats in.

I suggest a little reflection is in order, perhaps while wearing a proper vest and a flat cap.

Porters in Covent Garden does a pretty good pie but I have a soft spot for the Square Pie co. Nothing like wandering around London (or Heathrow) stuffing your face with pie and mash and peas and gravy.

Easy, the best (in the world) is "Pi" in Chorlton.

They sell pie minister pies, and there are no better.

the blake? nags? fagans? loads of pubs in sheffield have pork pies.

fagans is the ultimate food place though.

a lass i work with ordered a meatless pie there.

when it arrived it was the size of a house, and had noticeable large pieces of beef on top of it...

beef?... we asked... isn't this a meatless pie?

hell yes,... says big man... that meat is in our gravy.

Fagans gravy is like a hearty casserole. their pies are the size of most pub's plates.

ergo...

Fagans, Broad Lane in Sheffield

proper pub pies.

See? See what you've done?

Chorlton is bad enough, but the thought of a pie in that London? In that Convent Garden?

Shame on you binners, shame.

Blimey, that's bringing back some memories. Used to go in there when they opened back in the mid-seventies (I worked in The Hexagon at the time). They certainly served up a good choice of tasty pies. They still there?

I'm sorry crikey! I really didn't think Convent Garden would crop up. Honestly I didn't! I'm not leaking northerness, am I?

The only reason I'm asking is because the pub that does my favourite pie is having the kitchens done out this week, so I need an alternative for my fix 😥

That picture disgusts me. It's an outrage to claim that a pot of stew or whatever it is with a pastry lid is a pie, it's not a pie, it's a travesty.

I usually make my own but if time doesn't allow I like the pies from http://www.therealpieco.co.uk/ they have an excellent filling to air ratio and very good ingredients.

Actually it was rules I was thinking about. I just googled Pie Covent Garden and ended up with the wrong end of that particular stick

Neither a pub nor a restaurant, however Ferg Bakery in Queenstown NZ sell some rather spectacular pies.

Thats if you manage to not get drawn in to Ferg Burger net door which sell what are widely considered to be the BEST BURGERS IN THE WORLD.

To take pity on you Binners, the Ring o'bells in Marple is my local and the pies there are bloody lovely - the game pie is excellent, the steak & ale is nice and the Steak and Kiddley pudding is great. Proper chips too, and nice bar staff.

Cheekyboy, the Bull in Ambrige gets great reviews too.
Good pies. Mr Pullen swears by them.
New Welsh chef, apparantly.

Very nice young lady behind the bar too, but she's leaving to run some poncy wine bar.

Bitter End Cockermouth or Kirkstyle up the valley. None better except my own and I've tried. A mean pudding sometimes too

What's wrong with you binners?
You should be baking your own lad.
Remember Dr P's breakfast pie, meal for champions.

For you Southerners it's a 'quiche'.

It's the Fisherman's Retreat. Steak from their own herd, proper pastry, a lake of gravy and a mountain of chips. Just the job if you've walked over the moors to get there.

Some of their stuff is very nice. Not been for a while as it seemed to get expensive. Shame as it's only 2 mins from me.

I'm sorry binners, I do apologise.

I was feeling a bit grumpy and then found the wife had used all the beef paste up for her butties. I've had to have pate on mine today which has nearly made me foreign...

I've just ridden past that shop in Hurst Cross, I should have bought one for my afternoon tea!
