The mask you wear for when you cannot social distance is to stop you leaving a cloud of infectious droplets behind you ie to stop you infecting others - a basic cloth mask will do this to a decent level - maybe 70% reduction maybe more depending on the studies you look at.
The high level masks to stop you breathing in others droplets need to be professionally fitted, are expensive and are horribly uncomfortable
This is about reducing the chances of YOU infecting others not to stop others infecting you
It’s not supposed to filter out virus particles, you half-wits, it’s to stop you spreading droplets when you breathe or cough that *contain* the virus.
Please Flaperon, before calling me a halfwit check what I actually posted and see that I claimed nothing different. The effectiveness I referred to was in the spread of droplets through different materials. I also make clear that I understand the masks are to stop you spreading an infection to others.
