Highlight was them inviting me to lunch of pie and mash. Lovely.
And perhaps back to theirs for pudding.
It's not something that one can drop into easily as it requires a relevant degree and years of experience, but nuclear decommissioning as a mechanical engineer does feel very much like it is for the greater good. The more I find out about the utter horror show that exists in west Cumbria, the more important and vital it feels that we do whatever we can to fix it. And hopefully make things easier for the poor sods who have to put on the rubber suits and breathing apparatus and dose-meters to go and clean up the results of 50 years of bad decisions.
Healthcare! The answer is healthcare. Why aren't more people saying this lol
It would mean a period of retraining - 3 year degree would get you into most roles, all of which would which offer >£22,000. Or a longer degree if you fancy a go at psychology, pharmacy, medic etc
Emergency call taker? Could work for any of the 3 emergency services. I'm a supervisor and find it extremely rewarding.
Well you could work for us. We have taken on the garden at Craigievar castle in the North East of Scotland and will be using it as an example of the possibilities of native planting and poly culture to enhance any garden big or small. This role is not only an ecological and educational role - our organisation’s focus is on supporting individuals with learning disabilities. Can you get more morally rewarding then working with people to promote sustainability for society and the planet? 😁😅
