In first place for me must be God Shuffled His Feet by Crash Test Dummies. I loved it in 1993 and still do now. Track 5, Swimming in Your Ocean, was our fist dance choice at our wedding in 1996.I think our guests were a tad perplexed!
Second place is Down From Above by Ruby Blue. A brilliant folk album brimming with harmony-filled, uplifting tracks packed with nostalgia from college days and youth.
James - Le Petite Mort
Darkness on the Edge of Town, by a mile.
Joshua Tree by U2 is my most played for sure, but is also one I've been aware of since it came out so my first real full album I liked.
Most played in recent times is probably American Idiot by Green Day.
Three, in no particular order:
- The Levellers - Levelling The Land;
- Urban Species - Blanket;
- Nirvana - Unplugged in New York.
All still on regular rotation on the MP3 player.
Probably Let Me Come Over by Buffalo Tom or Copper Blue/Beaster by Sugar
Pink floyd - dark side of the moon & meatloaf - bat out of hell
Queensryche- Operation Mindcrime.
In terms of total listening time I reckon it's this:
That album was pretty much the soundtrack to my life from 2006 -2009 I know every word. Which means that I'm somewhat chuffed that about 2 hours ago this arrived in the mail.
And a very mery Christmas to you too!
Black Sabbath Live Evil

first album by six by seven, the things we make. one of those where its not instantly great, but every time you hear it theres something new in there.
first saw them in a sheffield pub and it was one of those 'hairs on the back of your neck' moments, ive followed them ever since.
spotify year in music if you use Spotify they have done a year summary for you if you log in. I blame the wife for my embarrassing stats! Sam smith top album, 39000 minutes of listening, rip tide by Vance joy top track ( gopro video track)ยก
was our fist dance
that's some honeymoon!
Neil Young Decade. It's never left the Cd player
The Stranglers: "Black and White"
Beatles: "The Beatles"
Rolling Stones: "Exile on Main Street"
Depeche Mode: "Violator"
Wilco: "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot"
Win: "Uh Tears Baby! (a Trash Pop Icon)"
Scritti Politti: "White Bread, Black Beer"
Better than the first album, which is majestic. And not technically an album, but the opening screech of Hallelujah still has the hairs on my neck standing up, and always gets cranked up to 11...
and these two belters
Neil Young Decade. It's never left the Cd player
*Like*
Prince - Purple Rain.
First listen on cassette just after the first showing on telly circa 1990 probably.
Ooooo, this has been a pretty constant presence
'like'
It's the sound in my head when neil isn't on.
over the years... probably burning blue soul by matt johnson or the last two talk talk albums.
Probably portishead dummy.
Some really, really excellent Albums above!
I've rarely got the attention span for Albums, even before MP3 and now the streaming services sort of killed the concept of putting an album on and listening to it in order in it's entirety I would usually play 3 or 4 of the tracks I liked and then move on to another CD.
There are a few though.
There's a couple of others, but they're 'Best of' compilations and I don't really think they're in the spirit of this - but Queen, Bob Marley, The Who and Dusty Springfield get a spin on my Apple Music quite a lot.
Better than the first album, which is majestic
Are you shitting me?
There are some excellent truly albums here. I know what you're saying about compilations, but I'm exempting Simons choice of New Order Substance from that as it doesn't feel like a 'Best of...'
It actually sounds like a complete album in its own right
Better than the first album, which is majesticAre you shitting me?
I know its controversial, but I just think the Second Coming is betterer.
The Verve - A Northern Soul
Lo Fi Allstars - How to Operate With a Blown Mind
The Charlatans - Melting Pot (if compilations are allowed)
Orbital - The Brown Album
Asian Dub Foundation - Rafi's Revenge
MC Conrad - Logical Progression
Jean Sibelius - Symphony No 4
Charles Mingus - Pithcanthropus Erectus
Volume 2 led zeppelin
Volume 4 black Sabbath
Sixteen stone - Bush
Ten - pearl jam
I know its controversial, but I just think the Second Coming is betterer.
Fair enoughski, and I've nothing against Second Coming, but the first album is just the nuts, in my humble O. Second Coming's also a belter.
The Wall - Pink Floyd
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
Heaven and Hell - Black Sabbath
Overkill - Motorhead
Permanent Waves - Rush
Leonard Cohen - The Best of
U2 - Under a Blood Red Sky (I haven't played to for years, but the amount I played it when I was a teenager probably puts its annual average at about 100 times a day.)
The The - Soul Mining
The mention of Matt Johnson and The The bring back memories- I used to listen to them a lot.
U2 War and The Joshua Tree were 2 of my most-played albums.
Also The Offspring's Smash.
I would guess...
Manic Street Preachers. The Holy Bible.
Ride. Nowhere.
Julian Cope. Jehovakill.
New Model Army. Thunder and Consolation.
