Where to stay in Kendal?

Me and Mrs B are off to a gig in Kendal in March, and we are looking for somewhere to stay overnight.

Kendal hostel originally looked good, but they only take large bookings, not small groups/couples.

So? Where should we stay? Is it really a soulless travelodge?

Travelodge is ok. Clean and basic with an attached pub.

Premier Inn, County Hotel, Riverside Hotel, Castle Green Hotel, Stonecross Manor, Romney's. Plenty of places. I think the Shakespeare do rooms and always came recommended, although it's recently changed hands.

Romney's is good.

Decent enough food, parking, walking distance to town.
