Wondering where would be good to take the family so we aren't too far from a decent sandy beach and countryside and I don't have to go too far to ride in the hills - road biking is fine. I think a village with a few shops would be ideal.

Gower but if you want to be a bit adventerous then try Pendine, amazing beach near enough to get to Tenby and I am sure you could explore using a map for the bikes.
