missnotax - last night's was the first of the second series - it's gone back about 35 years IIRC from the first series. From the preview of tonight's episode (which will be S2 ep 2), it seems that it'll be coming back to current day.

FWIW, I had a thread up last night: http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/psa-utopia-on-at-10pm-c4

It's worth catching up on the first series.

I thought it was great again. I think what's been done brilliantly is getting an idea out there that should be anathema to almost everyone (eg sterilising almost everyone) and then putting it across in a way that it actually sounds sensible.

Interesting too the juxtaposition of Carvel who doesn't like to see individuals hurt (eg his scientific team) but has no issue with genetic/racial profiling against Ms Rabbit who will happily kill any number of individual people for the greater good but won't even consider the racial profiling aspect because it's 'not what we do'.

And RB, sorry, Pietre, is just fantastic. Especially now with the back story and last night's attempt at a 'normal' life, you feel sympathy for a homicidal sociopath...

Watched both episodes on 4OD last night, back to back. Loved it.

The first episode was brilliant, loved all the "actual" conspiracy theory stuff based on events that I have a vague recollection of from my 70's childhood.

I did feel genuinely sorry for Pietre who was trying so hard to be normal and gets dragged back into it.

Oh and young milner...
Be still my beating heart.

It certainly had my two teenage kids asking a lot of questions last night.
What is going to happen with the world population and what realistic solutions will be suggested in the future ?

Scary stuff.

Thought it was brilliant (albeit rather, umm, disturbing!) and want to watch the rest but not sure what on earth I've started with!!

Same. Did you know Airey Neave escaped from Colditz then ran the whole operation of WWII shot down aircrew escaping back to the UK. I did not know this, bloke was amazing but sadly drifted to the dark side in the Thatcher years. Apparently he was part of a plan to whack Tony Benn....

Ok really enjoyed the first episode of series 2, some clever use of history. If it keeps to that standard it will be a classic.

yeah, know what you mean, but the guy's a weasel and will get his in fairly short order i would imagine.
Hide looked, err, scary hot at the end of ep 3...
just me?
mind you the build up to the end just reinforced how bat-shit crazy she is.
don't start me on 'young milner'
there's a pattern forming here. 😯

Favourite line so far:

"Got a thing for heights have we Alice? That's a *en turn up for the books innit!" Ab Love the Welsh accent.

I can see the final episode ending up as a 'Last Man Standing' kind of affair!

I loved the choice of the Roma as the race to inherit the earth. I can just see the scriptwriter sat there pondering what would piss off the daily mail the most 🙂

I sat with the missus last night and watched the first ep of series 1. She couldn't watch it due to it being horrible and gory. She went to the other lounge and watched "One born every minute".

Face / palm etc.

love the fact they're keeping it dark - and only let there be a happy ending for about 5 minutes before we were back on track

I hope RB gets his shuffle on and gets a rescuing asap

not really that scary. Malthusian views were probably around before the reverend himself. Hans Rosling suggests we should not worry too much about overpopulation.

Finally caught up with it last night. That really was great. I was slightly concerned that the last episode might just be everyone running around shooting but they managed to keep it interesting.

So, series 3 then...? Mr Rabbit to find a remote village (Hebden Bridge? 🙂 ) for his 'needs of the many' plan?

What other twists then? We have Carvel under control (ish) and all the other 'goodies' captured.

Why is the rest of TV so pants?

There are so many decent series available on line that having a TV is pretty redundant.

After Utopia we went on to The Bridge (Bron | Broen), which is even better.....
