Every girlfriend I ever had I met whilst quite drunk at a pub/club. Apparently not being able to remember a girls name in the morning is not a deal breaker

High as a kite on MDMA, in an east London pub.

The fancy dress Pirate outfit was strangely appealing...

Now we're married 😀

I met my wife at the morgue when I had to identify my cousin who had been run over.

On a hockey pitch. I think she first clapped eyes on me lying on the half way line smoking a cigarette and clutching a red bull to try and get rid of a hangover before I umpired the first of three games that day. I must have looked quite the catch!

At work. I was put on the same team as him when I joined the company. He sent me an email welcoming me to the company. I thought he was being friendly. We generally chatted over email. After a couple of weeks, I actually figured out which coder he was. 😛

He sent me his number and said if I wanted to go out and socialise with my new colleagues to let him know. I thought he was being friendly. I arranged some metal nights that he and another coder attended. At one point he drunkenly carried me across the dancefloor to try and dance to Nine Inch Nails. I thought he was being friendly.

Eventually he invited me out to dinner… I then had a vague inkling that he might fancy me, but quickly dismissed it as an arrogant and preposterous notion. Went out to dinner, I think he then realised that when it came to dating I wasn’t the sharpest tool in the box. After the meal he sent me a slight tipsy text that read, “I LIKE YOU!!” I then realised he wasn’t just being friendly. We hit it off, and we’re off to Glentress in July for our third wedding anniversary! 😀

We met on a blind date that was supposed to be between my best mate and her. He couldn't go and so I went instead. Married very happily for 10 years now. 😀

In a nightclub in Hamilton, anyone from Hamilton will know it, its the only one haha

I was acting as wing man to mate who had started seeing a girl who was in with her pals, he said that his girl had a hot pal that i should try it with, we went in and i got introduced and almost instantly lost intrest in this "hot pal" because i caught sight of another one of her friends,

after a couple of missed nights out we finally met properly in a pub in Glasgow for the original pals birthday and we properly hit it off.

3 years on and all is good and she make me smile everyday

The Dome nightclub in B'ham. I was wearing Ray-Bans and a silver suit with the sleeves pushed up, Miami Vice stylee. She just looked perfectly normal.

That was err twenty mumble mumble years ago we haven't changed much 🙂

At Uni on a try-out day for the womens rugby team - I had just started as a coach and she had been persuaded to go along by a mate. She never really took to the rugby (probably for the best) but we've been together 13 years now and have 2 kids 🙂 There is no one I would rather spend time with.

She was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar
When I met her
I picked her out, I shook her up, and turned her around
Turned her into someone new
Now five years later on she's got the world at her feet
Success has been so easy for her
Sometimes I have to remind her it's me who put her where she is now
And I can put her back down too

Or am I thinking of someone else? 😕

I was playing a gig, in a band called the Flatulent Brothers. Her friend knew the guitarist, so they came to see us perform our wonderful set, the highlight of which was a punk cover of Careless Whisper. I played the sax solo on my bass. How could she resist? 🙂

Reading all these posts is making me feel decidedly seedy and unromantic!

Aside from a brief flirtation with online dating a few years ago, have only ever met girls really in nightclubs! Including both of my significant relationships (sadly last one just ended a few weeks ago).

In 'Heavenly' (a ski resort) in California. He was very confident and I was shy, so it took 11 days of skiing together before I realised 'he's the 'one'.

11 years later and we're still going strong.

The Edward Rutland Free House - Stourbridge High Street . . .

Don't be fooled by the glamorous name, . . . it's a poo hole!

Served it's purpose that night though, . . . but if the other pub up the road had let us in, i'd have probably never met her!

On a tour of an oil refinery in Sardinia. It was a a work-related visit, and I made sure that I "accidentally" sat next to her on the tour bus, then proceeded to bore her solid about the pipework. It worked though (!) and there's no-one I'd rather be with.

Mutual friends tried to push us together over a period of months, got to know each other and each other's kids got to know each other (we'd both had bad past relationships), we argued and disliked each other until they stopped trying to push us together.
There was foot'n'mouth so MTBing was limited, all I could think of was hills which led me to thinking of her chest and how we got on ok that was 10 years ago, we've been married coming up for 7 years now.

First day at college

Walking with a good friend, spotter her walking the other way on the other side of the street & thought she looks hot in a tight red outfit, then walked straight into a lampost & knocked myself out cold!

For a week after, I was not quite sure if she was real or a dream!

Luckly she did not see this at the time & we have been married for 16 years now.

My SO was my dental nurse, she couldn't stand me.
I found out she was separated and hassled for ages to go out for dinner, eventually we did. That was 11 years ago and we're still together.
Most expensive meal I have ever had!!!!

Went to my end of school ball without a partner, left with one 🙂
Three months later she buggered off to Uni 200 miles away, then she moved 100 miles closer to start her Phd and we moved in together. Phd lasted about 6 months as she hated it but we liked the South Downs more than Dorset so stayed.
Its been 10 years this month, getting married next month. She got into cycling when we met, we've never been on holiday without the bikes. Her bike cost more than mine and she chose a cycling holiday for the honeymoon 🙂

At work. He had his eye on me for a while, but I hadn't really noticed him. Then I found out he had a VW campervan just when I needed to borrow one. So I emailed him to ask expecting to get a "no". I did get a no, but at least it gave him an excuse to email me and ask me out.... I did end up in the campervan after all.

Met in high school (equivalent of Sixth form here), and both of us dated other people while admiring each other from afar. Finally, after a few sneaky encounters, we began dating each other openly.

Then, after I'd finished my first degree, we got married, and she began paying my way through all of my subsequent academic work.

The wedding was 18 years ago, and I just finished a post-doc this past year. 😯

Lucky we like each other.

She stepped off a path and I run her over (I was on a bike and too young to drive).
She maintains I swerved to hit her. I maintain she threw herself under the wheels.

Most likely answer is that I had target fixation as I'd spotted her 20meters earlier and was "watching her style" as she walked away from me 😉

That was 22years ago and I'm still not grown up 🙁

Mrs Toast - love the story

Cheers! My brother had similar with his wife, they met at the gym, and she was very chatty, asking him if he was married, flirting for weeks... and he thought she was just being friendly. He eventually twigged when she asked him whether he'd like to go for a drink. No, he didn't twig at that point, he thought she just meant a drink in the gym bar. He twigged when he turned up at the gym bar after a workout and she was there glammed up to the nines. They've been married 7 years.

I think our family just has a gormless gene when it comes to receiving signals from the opposite sex. 😐
