Got a wedding coming up in the States.
I like to dress like a **** at weddings.

I'd like to wear a pastel coloured suit with shorts instead of trousers.

Where would I find such a horrendous outfit?

Check eBay and see if Michael Portillio is clearing out his wardrobe.

Then you need a Hawaiian Shirt. John Cooper Clarke was on the radio a few months back saying how Hawaiian shirts are never appropriate - saying that you could go to the wedding of your most carefree, fun loving friends in a Hawaiian shirt and you'd barely get through the door before someone would quietly take you to one side and say "What have these people done to you to make them hate them so much?"

Might be easier to just get a pastel coloured suit and have the trousers 'adjusted' into shorts.

Take it one step further, turn up on your bike after a 3 hour ride during which you wore the aforementioned suit and SPD sandals?

Not just inappropriate, but sweaty, dirty AND inappropriate.

I had a design studio in Wardour St in the 80s and would regularly see Jasper Conran wander by in assorted coloured suits with shorts. Hideous.

Why not wear a wedding dress?
That would piss the maximum people off.

Short-sleeved jackets are quite popular with African business executives:

Or you could go the whole hog:

Please make sure you team it up with some polished up Chealsea boots for added effect, in brown to wind up the 'gentlemen' who know you never wear brown in town.

Given it's in the US people may just assume someone's booked a Pee Wee Herman tribute act for the reception?

Anywhere in Essex as it sounds like something those mincers in Towie would be rockin.

Just cut the legs off an existing suit. If you wannna go 'full weapon' be sure to add turn-ups.

You sound one craaaaaaazeeee guy!

I bet everyone finds it utterly hysterical and says "Look at that funny guy in that suit, Oh no he didn't!"

I can hardly control my laughter.

Shorts? Don't forget the 'fanny pack' for full US awesomeness.

Don't hold back on the pastels, though:

Try here. No shorts though. I have worn this suit a couple of years running for Christmas nights out.

Failing that try shite shirts

I'm not sure I'd wear a pastel pink shorts suit for a formal church wedding personally, but for a summer reception it'd be alright. Shoes are a bit of a challenge though.

🙂

Do the Hawaiian, shorts, flip flops and Raybans. It's less in your face and obvious than the suited shorts.

Take an obvious high class hooker with you for added effect.

The smart way to wear shorts is Bermuda style. Jacket, tie, shorts and long socks. It looks mad outside of Bermuda though.
