I am guessing the thing is based on the results of this:
The Nord-Trøndelag Health Study (HUNT) is one of the world's largest population studies with data from three health surveys; HUNT 1 (1984-86), HUNT 2 (1195-97) and HUNT 3 (2006-2008). With a large collection of health data and biological material, HUNT data is used by researchers in many varied fields. At CERG, we have in part used HUNT data to study the relationship between physical activity and cardiovascular disease, for example looking at VO2max as a predictor of future health.
Over 200,000 participants so a pretty big sample. It would appear that the age is based on an average person so a fitness age of 20 or whatever is not a massive deal considering most people do no exercise.
VO2 max estimates are based on this: http://www.ntnu.edu/cerg/fitness-numbers
Not total Bollocks, it just that showing mean figures will always throw up outliers that make the predictions look a bit stupid. Like bodybuilders and BMI.
Under 20, vo2 max of 71, I'm 46. How can it possibly calculate vo2 max?
Fitness age 43
Actual age 28
Ummm....
Real age 42, fitness age 22
It knocked 23 years off my age.
Mmmm, might have to get a younger wife... 🙂
Younger than 20!
No wonder. I love gadgets, drinking, partying, toys, xBox, riding bikes in the woods etc etc.
I'm 44.
50/<20
My God, what must I have been like when I was 20?
It's bobbins. It reckons that my fitness age is 13 less than my real age which is cobblers seeing as I do very little and get knackered climbing the stairs!
Everybody did put their waist size in centimetres not inches didn't they. 😉
Apart from Tom who may have used millimetres.
21. Hmm, I was a lazy slob when I was 21, now I exercise a reasonable amount so not sure that makes sense...
Well I do much as I did when I was young. So as its just knocked at least 15 years off
Of I'd done the test when I was a teenage would it give me a negative age
Me - 44
Vo2max - 57
Fitness age - less than 20
I don't feel, or look, that fit..?
Cheeky David!
